I belive Cool Hand Luke's lyrics are more simple. But you're absolutely right, it is a very powerfull sequence and it's a lovely tribute to sing and remember this song.
As for us, Paul Newman will always be the young and smiling character from this movie.
He was fantastic all the way up into the twilight years of his career. John Rooney in 'Road To Perdition' is one of my favorite Newman characters. The final 10 minutes of 'The Hustler' is some of the most intense acting ever put to celluloid.

omg lol -face palm- billy idols version. I know wat ur talking about tho we had to watch cool hand luke in english 10th grade, made that much of an impression on me just that scene alone that i remember a day in school lol im 24 now. long time ago. I favortied this, even tho it's billy's version. LOL actually gj his version is much more to remember or read (: gj tho. my b/f made me scroll up to watch u we were both very impressed and im happy that some1 else was hit in the same way by that movie

I belive Cool Hand Luke's lyrics are more simple. But you're absolutely right, it is a very powerfull sequence and it's a lovely tribute to sing and remember this song.
As for us, Paul Newman will always be the young and smiling character from this movie.

He was fantastic all the way up into the twilight years of his career. John Rooney in 'Road To Perdition' is one of my favorite Newman characters. The final 10 minutes of 'The Hustler' is some of the most intense acting ever put to celluloid.
My favorite line from HUD: "Happens to everyone. Nobody makes it outta life alive."
