You vid description says "lovely fall Sunday afternoon", but that music, the cloud shadows, etc... is pretty creepy.

Absolutely amazing, I think you're really got something here! I love in scene two and what you did with the shadows. Keep up the good work!

How do you achieve the smooth transition from still to motion? Is it built into the controler?
jcathomas 4 years ago
unfortunately no. i'm using a home-made scripting program to send short commands to it via usb->serial.

How did you rotate the camera?
I have started shooting time lapses. Check out my videos and comment.

take a look around my channel... you'll see!
Thanks a lot! Time lapse photographing is a very cool hobby. I just wonder how many shots the shutter of my camera will resist until it breaks. :D
Excellent question... ;-) All I can say is that I've yet to kill a camera and you can see how much I play!
I have three dslr bodies and have replaced shutters on two of them... Just 1 of my current projects has 200,000 frames so far..

If you don't mind me asking, what are the mathematical specifics behind this video, ie frame rate, pan rate, yadda yadda.

There is no single answer to this question. Each sequence has it's own 'stat'. I look at the situation and make decisions based on the what I'm trying to achieve. but,IIRC shot 1 = 5 sec/f, shot 2 = 10 sec/f pan = 2 deg/min, shot 3 = 20 sec/f
Thanks, I was just trying to get a rough idea of how to do it.
Very good job. I am very much inspired now to do some timelapsing in a vid.
cheers
