How do you get those high notes? Is there trick? Is it easier to inhale for the high notes?

@chocolatedonut31 Lots of practice. I can hit the high notes equally inhaling and exhaling, but sometimes I think I have greater control over the exact pitch when inhaling on high notes.

I don't claim to be the best in the world; one of my friends Geert Chatrou absolutely blows me away, and there are others who are better than me as well. I think you might want to go leave a similar comment for the three guys on YouTube who all call themselves "World's Best Whistler" in their video titles. I make no such claims. You might enjoy some of my more recent videos a little more though; no back yard, and much better audio. :) Cheers!

@soridosuneku Thanks!! I have been whistling for many years. I think anyone could learn to whistle well, but maybe not everybody has a mind for music, so maybe they couldn't quite whistle like this, I don't know. But yes it takes a lot of practice to get this good. Thanks again!

Man, this is way cool. How do you control the whistle, the way it goes up and down? Your tongue or your stomach/ diaphragm? Awesome job :)

@Winters7Roses It's a combination of airflow and the shape of the airspace inside the mouth, and the size of the opening (the "pucker"). The biggest factor in controlling pitch is the size of the pucker. The smaller the opening, the higher the pitch. I also use the tongue to start and stop notes sometimes. When you whistle a higher note, do you whistle by breathing in or out? When I whistle I always blow air out except when I do rather higher notes.

Hi, yes I do. I play trumpet, piano/keyboard, and I also mess around with the blues harp (harmonica) although my skill with that is pretty limited. Trumpet is my main instrument, played it since grade school. How about you?

After listening to dozens of these whistlers, you are the only one with "it".
