This video was funny as hell. Using all those abbreviations (I hope this is the right word) made it quite hard to follow, at least for non-english as a mother tongue speaking person.
I love this video, thanks for the graphs! I can't say that I'm surprised that AMBW is the rarest interracial combo; it's been that way for a while, now. I think it's important to remember the difference between an interracial relationship and an interracial marriage. Sometimes people cohabitate and have children, but they're technically not married, or in a common-law relationship. Also, there are some people who may classify themselves as one race, even though they're actually mixed.
Thanks for showing people the numbers. It becomes more of a reality when people can see hard data. I do agree that stereotypes play a large part in the reason why numbers are low. I have had numerous times where people would tell me why they would never date an asian male because of an uneducated/media-based stereotype. And from what I have read, AMWF and BMWF relationships are the most likely to get divorced but that's not happening between me and my asian! :)
@ekollity28 I will answer your question in the following video I make. I am still number-crunching the 2006 Interracial Marriage data collected by the US Census Bureau. Once I finish that, we can make some comparisons =]
@ekollity28 Okay, I have compared almost all the interracial marriage data collected by the US Census Bureau from the 2001 to 2010, constructing data tables and graphs in the process. To confirm the analyses I have drawn, I need to cross-reference my findings with the divorce data. Only problem is I cannot find US Census Bureau divorce data (broken down by racial marriage pairings) anywhere. I need your help xD
The numbers are so low. Wow!! A theory that I have is that AM/BW are not running around in the same social circles. We are not bumping into each other often enough. Something you said a while back I suspect is another when you said the "different professional career paths" Like right now I am pursuing a bachelors in Social work only to switch to Psychology major in the fall. In general, It is flooded with women here. Not one Asian man in sight. LOL!
@sheliene12 Some stereotypes have a play as well because I think that we are like a mystery to each other. That could be another thing maybe. AM/WW is more common which is understandable because Many Asians not all go to the same schools or live in the same neighborhoods, shop at the same supermarket or going to the same public places. Higher chances people are going to interact after awhile and the mystery is usually gone. Okay. Sorry!! I am not finished yet!!...................>
@sheliene12 I also noticed that stereotypes a lot of the times happen not all of the time, happens when obviously one culture is clueless about the other vise versa, and draw conclusions from what they see. I am not saying this is fact but something to look at. Whites and Asians spent a lot of time together and what ever racial stereotype that the two groups might have had about one another goes away. The two groups had more time in general to socialize. This is not facts! Okay. I'm done! LOL!!
@icysparks2007 LOL!! Thank you icysparks! I guess I have been beating myself in the head pondering why these couplings don't happen as often I say for about ten to eleven years.LOL! I have been listening to what many Asian men and black women have been saying and have been trying to look at it from all angles. What I do noticed is that a lot of Asian males who make most of the videos and comments are coming out of California. Not all but a lot. Yeah, I have been doing this for a while now.LOL!
@bluerose14 You are very welcome. I plan to film a future video in which I use the US Census Bureau data from 2006 to track the increase/decrease in different interracial marriage demographics. But this number-crunching is going to take awhile =/
@rooroo645 Haha, yes, ambw married couples should be proud to be part of that statistic. The number of AMBW married couples didn't even break past 10k. I just can't believe it xD
I think 9000 for AMBW is pretty good considering black women used to be the least likely to date outside their race, and i think asian men were the same way but now its becoming more acceptable to date outside our race. But i agree theres still too big a gap when compared to our opposite sex. Btw i read that BMWW marriages have higher divorce rates than WMWW but WMWW have higher divorce rates than WMBW, i don't know about black/asian divorce rates though, i'll have to look that up...
@razzlystar While you are doing that, I am going to check the 2007 interracial marriage statistics collected by the US Census Bureau. See if there has been any improvements for AMBW these past 3 years...
@icysparks2007 lol what i mean is I have seen people date people within his or her race only to have failed relationships because they refuse to hook up with the person who is more compatible with them because of what the parents would think. I'm wondering if interracial marriages last longer ? Because I before my Korean boyfriend I only dated white guys because of my parents... than I grew up. And my Asian b.f treats me sooooo much better than any past white b/f. XD
@kittyasuka Haha, that is great to hear, although I am not sure interracial marriages last longer since the couples face more obstacles that threaten to tear them apart. But then again, I have been in an interracial relationship before; from my recollection, the more we were attacked the harder we clung together for support. So yeah, you may be onto something =]
your 39,00 annotation disappeared and you should probably indicate which part is men and which is women XD, i'm glad to see that the numbers went up since the last census though
@Desi1204 I just fixed that 39,000 annotation. Blue represents male and pink represents female. Didn't mean to be sexist there, but I couldn't fit the words men and women all on this tiny youtube screen, so I couldn't do it any other way >.<
@icysparks2007 Ahh! that makes sense! thanks for the update on that though, i'm sure we will reach the turn out we are looking for in our lifetime, i'm sure of it!
thanks for sharing this info.

I find it surprising. Did the total number of AF/WM marriages decrease while all the others all increased in 10 years?

Cool. I made an excel data comparison using the 2000 census statistics. Maybe we can compare them.
