Losing a parent is devastating and there is no healing. There will be a gaping hole in our heartstill the day we die. Our time with them was formative and really made us into who we are and how we behave. My Father died almost 8 years ago and I miss him like it was last night, and I live in dread of losing my 82 year old mother..when I first wake in the morning, I sit and worry about her, worry until I am scared....I guess it's the price we pay for having been lucky enough to have great parents
I miss my mom sooooooooooo much, she loved Christmas time. It's unbearable at times not having her here. She raised 6 of us kids by herself, I don't know how she did it! She would bundle all of us up then bundle herself up and come out and have a snowball with us then we would all go in the house and she'd make a big pot of hot chocolate with toast and we'd sit and talk about the snow fight and laugh.......I miss you Mom.............
I sure know how you feel. I am 58 - I lost my mother sixteen years ago and my father thirty-two (god has it really been that long?) and the pain never goes away. Never. All it takes is one memory like this one and the feeling is all back again.
@jwills8606 I lost my mother ( I am also 58) in 2000 and my father in 1983 and you are right. I think of them all the time. A year after we lost Mum, my sister and I were Xmas shopping and we heard this woman who was shopping with her mother, gently berating her (the way you do when they turn into the child and you become the Mum) saying "C'mon Mum, hurry up, we've got loads to do" and my sister and I both filled up with tears knowing we would never say those words again. Love you Mum + Dad xx
