This looks like a wonderful place, full of evocative scenery - i've lived in an East African desert (scrubland) Lake Magadi, which has scenery just like that and I am sure Petra will have the same fierce heat ....Magadi got to about 50 degrees c on the solid salt white lake not much cooler on the shores about maybe 2 or 3 degrees cooler! All year round ...Jordan gets cold in the winter i think

i would say spring or autumn when its not to hot and not to cold........Jordan is an amazing country! The dead sea is also amazing and wadi rum!

OMG! this place is fantastic...its wonderful...if you want a life changing trip to an Arab Country then go to Petra. You can get there by a boat from Taba Heights in Egypt. The bus drive through Jordan is absolutely wonderful!

I visited Petra when I was in Jordan last October..

It's a really magnificent place, I was really stunned by the looks of "the treasury" and the monastery on top of the place.

I voted for Petra as well to become one of the world wonders, and i'm glad Petra won.

@MJweinat, I am happy too. I wanted it to win beacuse is the oldest remaining one of the old Wonders and more impressive than the Pyramids. Granted the mystery of the Pyramids is what makes then famous, but Petra was actually full of life and commerce when it was used not just a city for the dead.
