I know what FOX "news" could claim. Since it is easily fact checked by the CDC and/or other public health agencies that Fox news is WRONG about their reports of leprosy, they should have changed their story as opposed to saying, "If I said it, it is right". 1) 7,000 cases in 30 years is NOT an epidemic: in fact only 91 cases were reported in 2000 (last reported year published.) leprosy (aka Hansen's Disease) is most prevalent in the Western Pacific (like the Philippines.) You have a better chance of catching AIDS off your chihuahua than you have of catching Leprosy.

Most cases are due to direct contact with a person with Hansen's Disease, such as those performing missionary work in the Pacific, so stop worrying.
