Ahhh...the steele drums. They make beautiful music. At one workshop/demonstration, I learned that they have African roots and originated in Tobago and Trinidad. I think they are really called the Steele Pan. Whatever they are really called, they make a distinctive, one-of-a-kind sound. Harry Belafonte's "Shake, Shake, Shake" is a classic. I love this song and will use it for my class project in sculpting. Just favorited you and will give you all the credit in my class project. I have to make something for the art show so I am making a mini bar that I have made out of wood and then I will wrap all the wood in used (disinfected) soda cans. The mini bar will have wheels on the bottom so it can move and then I will add some mini speakers to the bar playing some island music like this one.

They used to have a Steel Drum band at the Don Caesar when I lived in Florida.

Used to listen to them all the time. It was great to be 30, buff, and do nothing but walk the beaches, date the women, and go sailing.

It was a privilage for BWIA West Indies Airways to adopt a steelpan image for their logo.

Hope Caribbean Airlines chooses it when they have to get a new logo
