Worst film I've ever seen. Although it is funny in it's own way, but more like an "am I actually supposed to buy this" funny. As for the societal relevance, it could have had that... in the fifties or so.

The gentile who was good at math in Goodwill Hunting (Matt Damon) did get to date a beautiful Jewish looking woman with an English accent (Minnie Driver) but that’s different because Damon was not an old fart, and Minnie Driver is not actually Jewish. Larry’s wife, in Whatever Works, left him for a handsome Jewish looking man (with an English accent just like Driver) but I don’t know if that guy's actually Jewish.

By “influential” I mean having the ability to use the media to shape public opinion, and being represented at high levels in all branches of government, as well as in education, and in many corporations (especially in the financial sector). So the oppressed minority image they often project strikes me as inaccurate and perhaps self serving (as a way to justify how they treat their alleged opressors).

Negetives: if you’re a non-Jewish male and you want to live in Woody and Larry’s world, you’re going to get stuck either sharing a woman, dating a woman who smells like formaldehyde, being gay, or being single. You’re definitely not going to get to date a Jewish woman who is way younger and better looking than you just because you’re good at math or physics.

Positive comments about the film: excellent cinematography and acting (like in all Woddy Allen movies). The lighting, and compositions of the scenes are just beautiful. So much attention to detail. Very considerate to the viewer. The dialogue and ideas are also interesting.

When you look at really funny films by Woody Allen such as Sleeper, Bananas, Love & Death, Annie Hall etc this is total rubbish. You can actually hear the camera in several of the scenes, something a good director would try & do something about and an unknown would be called an amateur for if he didn't. Ever since Bullets over Broadway Woody Allen's films have to be graded a terrible green & yellow colour, it's like suffering from a kind of colour-blindness brain disease.

It was a very warm evening & the a/c in the cinema was more enjoyable than this film. Just seen Whatever Works. It is contrived, tiresome, boring, lazy & incompetent. I would put up with it if it had been funny in any sense, but it was pompous & very desperate & dated. Larry David usually so good at the 'Basil Fawlty' moment wasn't given a ghost of a chance. The actor who played the English guy could not act AT ALL.

this trailer really doesn't do justice to the movie, becuase the jokes are taken out of context and if you watched the movie, these jokes would be soooooo much funnier becuase you would get where they are coming from... an overall great movie!

I don't know about you guys but I'm very disappointed about this trailer. Allen's movies are usually witty yet deep. This seems a bit... contrived. Like something is missing. I don't know, maybe it's that Evan Rachel Wood is way too young for Larry David or that she doesn't have enough experience to be in an Allen film. I don't know. It just disappointed me.
