"Welcome to How to ruin a good game with a remake, were your host, SEGA, and now, for this crappy remake of the once great game. Instead of just re-releasing the old space harrier and making a ton of cash, were going to remake it so it SUCKS."
Am I the ONLY one who doesn't have a problem with this? I like how it looks, how it sounds, and it keeps the gameplay of the original classic intact. Sure, I would like the original model for Squilla, but that's it.
The game looks good, and to be honest i don't see why people bash it, i am very familiar with the original space hairier, and it it a favorite, this looks good to, i wish Sega would make a legitimate complete fast passed next gen good graphic-ed reboot to the series, like make a new one that is its own game and not a part of a collection.
the japanese remake, "Space Harriers" (with an "s") arcade game is way better than this version; it had multi-player, power upgrades, 3 dimensional and everything...i sought for that version ever since i came back stateside and never found it....i guess it was for the dreamcast but Sega had already flopped....i'm still angry about that.
no you know which factories made it wrong the SEGA factory made it wrong because the 3d hologram makings had real world looking creatures made by sega but they are now different made creatures from the original
@TheDutchGhost Would you for example be able to reach those cities, ruins etc you see on the background of the levels or would they forever be out of your reach.
When I heard the Announcer say "Welcome to the Fantasy Zone! Get Ready!" I about died from awesomeness, but it's nowhere near as cool as the original announcer.
Isn't he suppose to 'ride'' that bike? and why is he dressed like a football player, isn't he suppose to be dressed like a astronaut or something? the game is called ''space'' harrier
Isn't he suppose to ''ride'' that bike? and why is he dressed like a football player, isn't he suppose to be dressed like a astronaut or something? the game is called ''space'' harrier
@darkmessenger84 your telling me, sonic 4 was the biggest dissapointment about a sonic game after the "next gen" for the new consoles. sonic will only be great in 16-bit, not 3d/2d format crap.
@TheCommentGuy8 That isn't a bike. That is his oversized gun. Who cares what he's dressed like? "Space" refers to the fact that he's shooting aliens FROM space. And why were you nitpicking? You sound like Alexander4488.
@TheCommentGuy8 no he isn't supposed to ride the bike, its a combination jet pack and laser cannon. Jeans boots and a jacket have been Harri's clothing of choice since 1985. And by you're reckoning, Mario should have fought a rampant Donkey, Call of Duty should be full of mobile phones, and Pacman should have had a man eating the dots and not a yellow circle. Don't think Yellowcircleman would have proven very popular :)
Why the heck does the Space Harrier dude look like a dude with very long blonde hair. I swear last time I checked he looked like Duke Nukem with a giant raygun and the ability to levitate.
@AzukaraMegaDriver Also the whole helmet and gear crap looks ridiculous. Who gave Space Harry this design? Don't tell me the design I've always known was western Sega not knowing what they were doing. ;_;
When I bought this compalation I was both happy and disgusted. I still hope that Sega does a PROPER release like Capcom, Taito, Midway, and Namco did. Not stick a few arcade classics on Genesis collections or hidden on other games. The Space Harrier on Sonic Ultimate collection for the Xbox360/PS3 has pitch problems which make the music unlistenable.
Parts are better, it could of been so good though, the programmers didn't have enough talent I guess, the techno music is cool the guns annoying and takes away. Its a shame, so much potential here some really cool stuff but just not a finished work of art like the first game. They blew it here and I don't see much hope for someone remaking the game again.
i think sega should remake this game but freshen up the graphics even more (the explosions look like sprites for the DS for pete sake) the sountrack rules but the ability to go classic style (8 bit gfx, sound and speed) is crutial to keep us retro heads intrested
or because the young generation of gamers can't stand having to earn a game-completion... I rather play the SMS version on my MegaDrive Ultimate Collection on 360...
The graphics are a lot better than the original but for some reason it just doesn't 'gel' well for me,i were a massive fan of the 85' arcade version (espcially the hydrolic sit down version),this version just looks 'gay' to me.The music sounds like Jean Michel Jarre has got his hands on it and reworked it
Ha the bonus level took FOREVER. Definately slower than the original. I still want this game, but it looks pretty low-budget. The shitty explosions make it look like a flash game. Space Harrier for the Saturn is the way to go for SH perfection.
For me, the graphics were better in the original 1985 release. This just looks so cheesy like a hashed remake of a good movie they tend to keep on doing. Thanks for the upload all the same.saved me a few bucks.
I thought, and still feel, that even though the arcade is the definitive version, this was still great for it's own intrinsic merits. I just like the music from the classic so much more.
Did anyone notice that half the games music track is missing? This and the massive speed drop really tick me off about this remake. It doesn't look horrible IMO but if it cant keep me on the edge of my seat like the original I cant enjoy it.
The 3D models don't look right. Everything from the Harrier's leg positions, the way the dragon moves, etc. And the original dragon came so up close to the screen that its face was impressive but it looks pretty small here.
@personalfunfest they were tryin to force this 3d shyt for everybody. Its just now being able to handle the speed. with ps3 look at sonic unleashed and bayonetta
Of course it would, if it did away with the fractals, the 3D models and the game speed reduction. When they made this, they should have just inserted high res sprites into the game instead of those polygon models.

@gamein60seconds Panet Harriers is inspired by this game ^^
Space harrier is the first game of this genre developed in 1985.
Panet Harriers is continuation of the Space harrier series.

Probably very silly but when I was younger I was always curious of what it would be like to actually live inside the Fantasy Zone.
Seems such a diverse world, high tech and mythological.
