im setting up a saltwater tank and I was wondering if I can use the same filter I used for my fresh water tank (the fresh water tank is down) or do I need a special salt water filter.

Yes you can use the same filter used for freshwater for saltwater tanks. If you want a biowheel it's up to you some are for it and some against. A Protein Skimmer removes dissolves waste in the water, helps water quality and is essential for a marine tank. Good luck with yours..I'm new at it too and mines been going for about 3 months:)

nice damsles I particularly like the 3 strip damsles

but I prefer chromisis they are non aggressive.

This is such a cute tank!! The white rock really brings an elegance to it for those of us who are used to seeing purple, pink and brown rock all the time!! Congrats!!

the pink and brown rocks are live rock which is needed in a reef tank this appears to be a fish only tank.
