Yes, it's nice to see their close platonic friendship celebrated. I've personally never understood slash, especially as most of it is written by females about a male/male relationship. Gay male authors I could understand ... anyway, not to dis' them, I just don't understand; never have, count me among the "ignorant" and happy to celebrate the Triumvirate as friends.

There are many videos here, that show Spock and Kirk as they were lovers, but I prefer vids like this one.

@hitchchik I'm new, so honestly, I'm not trying to be argumentative. Once I heard of slash, that is exactly what I see when I watch the show, and can't interpret it any other way. For example, how do you explain the backrub scene without slash? I honestly can't remember what I thought the first time I saw it (before I had heard of slash.) If you've got another explanation, I'm game.

That is your own interpretation. That does not make it a fact. For you, the idea of them as something more than friends takes something away from the meaning of show, but for others the idea of them being only friends takes away some meaning.

Kirk/Spock is very meaningful for people who read slash fanfiction considering it is the original. You may think it's silly or wrong but they started off a whole dimension of fandom that means a lot to some people.
