  • "By now, the full draft of Reid's bill that had circulated in the corridors and landed so prominently on Republican desks has been published in the Congressional Record in the official and conventional manner.

The type is small and tight. No hernias will be caused by moving this rendering of the bill around. Unfurling it on the Capitol steps would not be much of a spectacle.

    It's 209 pages."

    Associated Press writer Ann Sanner

  • the republicans are just trying to save some trees. you would think a democrat could understand such an initiative

  • nevada do the rest of the country a long overdue favor and vote this guy out!!

  • If there are a lot of pages, wouldn't that mean there is content ON those pages? Maybe it's a way of saying there is too much crap in this bill, and it's simply put in a manner that Harry can understand. Talk about a guy who can't put 2 and 2 together...even Bush was smarter than this guy!

  • I think Harry has had too many pages...

  • Our elected leaders are just a bunch of idiots. No one trusts anything they say because the are always trying to deceive the American people. No wonder their ratings are so low.

  • In all honesty. A 1000 page bill is the equivalent of 250 novel.

They have large print, double spacing, and large margins. Go look at the pdf's and you can see for yourself.

  • st4ticblu3 - They're also written in legalese which is significantly harder to decipher, especially if you aren't already a lawyer. Most politicians seem to not have a legal background. Also, it's not like a novel where you can simply assume what an oddly phrased sentence means. If someone votes for a bill because they didn't read it correctly there can be serious ramifications.

  • Bullshit!! I've read the bill and there's no "legalese", have you read it, or even looked at it. Sure you have to refer backward and forward in the bill to comprehend some of the passages but even a half as gamer can do that.

  • Thanks for say again what I've been telling people for at least a couple of months now. The pages of the bill have 24 lines of text, in large type, about one quarter of the number of lines in text on a pocket novel and they are counting the number on the page rather than read the dam bill..

  • reid you Lie!

You-DEMS-tried to ram it through before the August recess SO NONE COULD READ IT.

AND, you broke DEM promise of MORE TRANSPARENCY-posting bills so people could see WHAT THEIR REPS ARE DOING TO THEM.

AND, after extremist libs couldn't do a budget that added up-several times over, after being called on it by the CBO, we get fragmented bills that will be voted on,

THEN CHANGED, ADDED TO OTHER BILLS, behind closed doors, the text constantly changing-

    THIS ISN'T REPRESENTATIVE LAWMAKING

  • "What good is reading the bill if it's a thousand pages, and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?"

John Conyers, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee

  • Yes Harry, that's the only complaint. Too many pages. Not the words on the pages, just too much paper being used or something like that.

Although, I do recall some dems saying that they didn't intend to read such a big bill.

  • What kind of an idiot votes for a fool like this?

Those people need to have their voting rights suspended until after the insanity test.

    What an absolutely disgusting man!

  • What bill is he talking about, from which committee? If he talking about the Baucus bill there is no bill from his committee.

  • Idiot. How dare we question the bill King obama wants.
