this is useful when your on the edge and it will make anyone slip if there on the ground but throw from a little lower than his mouth

Are there any neutral or cp levels this works on? Yoshi's Island and Pictochat seem to have too small of a slope for it and Lylat tilts. Is it possible to perform this in the air rather than on the ground so as to use it in aid of recovery?

Yes it is possible in the air, but it's harder b/c you can't use Diddy's mouth as a guide.
