  • taitsumaani aakuni!

  • Everytime I listening to this song, reminds me of my childhood. First time I heard on CBC radio in Montreal and the host was Elijah Maniraja.

  • @jkappianaq I must be older, it reminds me of my teenagehood. I remember Elijah Manirajak too, he was the coolest Inuk of his day! His translation of rolling stones heart of stone was legendary.

  • Sikumiut one of the best band ever to hear them in Radio, Bands we're Matiusi Tukalak, Lucassi Irqumia, Lucassie Koperqualuk and Charlie Adams (i think charlie was on and off with them depending traveling).

  • May 31 2010, Taikunga Utirumavunga

  • I am lucky to have known him & called him & Elsie friends. I'm so sad about the way he passed away in Montreal. I have some of his music I've digitized & sent to his son in Kuujjuak. Do you know about the Charlie Adams memorial concert held in Inukjuak? I think they may be forming a committee for preserving his music. The record you have may be quite precious to be included in his history. If you're on facebook I have pictures there from the 80's. I lived in Kuujjuarapik, Salluit & Inukjuak.

  • @julieannschroeder Hi Jullie Sorry I took so long to reply. You are lucky to have know him, he was a really interesting man, a great joker. CBC Radio should have all of his older music as they produced them. I am no longer on facebook. I didn't like the way they reduce your pictures.

  • wonderful photo! And the music? Is it Charlie's? If so do you know when it was recorded & where? I lived in Inukjuak in the 80's & knew him.

  • @julieannschroeder I am not sure who wrote the song. Charlie was in the band. No I have to look at the record, but it sits in Pangnirtung, I am living some else right now. It was recorded sometime in the 70's though. Most records by Inuit would have been recorded in Montreal. You are lucky to have know him, he was a good generous guy, and extremely taltented.

  • Thanks, do you know when?

  • @julieannschroeder early 1900's from the looks of the clothing. This picture sits at my mother in laws house. This is winter clothing they are wearing. Summer dress involves more seal skins.

  • was this from Inukjuak?

  • @julieannschroeder The Inuit in this picture are Cumberland Sound Inuit, near Pangnirtung.
