Hi Jen! Glad to see you and that you're ok! We were w/out power for 5 days in April with the tornadoes. The worst part was how dark it was outside w/out street lights and how pitch black it was in the house at night. It freaked me out. We kept having outages afterwards because of damage to the system. We have a generator and they are great except for the noise! BTW, flameless candles are a great thing! xoxo~Crystal

I am glad you all are okay and didn't have any flood damage. It would be really be hard to not have electricity for a week.  Our town ran out of electricity for 3 hrs. last October and last was hard, but that is nothing compared to went you went through. I will pray for you all to be safe and to continue to have electricity.

11 days here from hurricane Opal in '95 I believe. It was awful without power,. no pioneer woman for me!! I had candle wax everywhere! Was dark here at 5:00!!! Hot!! Miserable!!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I'm on Long Island and we were out from Sunday at 2 am (I guess late Saturday night) until about 6 pm Friday. Worst was the lack of communication from our electric company. I think the whole Island is annoyed with LIPA. Terrible week for sure! Glad you're okay :)....and it's pouuuring here again too. Way to leave the summer with a bang!

I'm so glad to hear you are ok! I can totally sympathize with you guys; we were hit by Hurricane Juan in '03 and had the same thing; pretty much no damage, but no power for almost a week. I totally feel your pain regarding no electricity. It sucks! I live in AL where we were hit by a string of tornadoes in April and it knocked out our electricity for about 5 days. We've had tornadoes before of course but nothing that bad, at least in my lifetime. The only thing we had to do for fun was sit in our cars and listen to the radio. And we had to use our cars to charge our phones and other devices. It was a pisser to put it nicely. Glad you didn't get blown away!

Glad you're fine, we too get hit by the hurricanes where I live and the best thing we did was invest in a bunch of oil burning hurricane lamps. (Isn't that an ironic name? :-)) They are a life saver, we used them last night when we lost power because of tropical storm Lee. Glad though that you are good and with power!

Glad you guys are ok! Sorry about the electricity situation! I work for a utility in Virginia and we had lots of people that just got power back today! This was the second worst outage in our companies history...I'm sure it was similar there! Don't forget you can count the food against your home owner's policy! A side note: if you are on a bad grid...and plan to stay in your home for awhile...you may want to consider getting a generator! Hugs to you! :)
