I ride trails, got rid of all 3 rings and put 1x34 teeth ring, been working, if it is any steeper than i can pedal then i get my rock climbing gear out, or if need to go faster i get in my car.

Why do your derailleurs snap off like brittle candy? For combined street, trail and mountain riding, I prefer 3x8, or 3x9. Even 3x7. Yes, 3x7. It has a very workable array, especially with medium hills, middle front cog rules.
@GrendelPL yup specialized come to the uk to test their mud tyres . most other companies use the uk and Europe to test issues . The UK has a huge variety of soil types in close proximity .
Next year 2x11 or 1x11. The cassette would b 9-36. That would b amazing. The front gear would be a 32. U get so much ground clearance and u can get up anything and have enough gears to pedal down. Maybe the front gear should b a 34 or 30. Depends on the type of riding I guess. I hope some one agrees with me. Please respond if u do.
@alexthemtbr I just got a 2x10 setup and ALREADY i'm dreaming of 2x11. I'm a "gear jammer" and I love to shift gears in my transmission. I have a 30-44 xtr crank up front and basically it's my old one minus the granny which I never used on my hardtail cannondale. I also now have a extra inbetween gear with my current 11-28 ultegra cassette which gives me almost the same range as my old 11-32 spread. My old setup was a 32 chainring now I have a 30 so my 28 in the back is almost the same.
@myadrenalinrush The cranks were 540 bucks with shipping from taiwan. My x.o med. cage rear derailleur was around 225 and my xx shifters were 275. Sram x.0 bottom pull front was around 80 or so and 60 bucks for xtr 10 speed chain and 70 bucks for ultegra cassette. My carbon lefty sl front fork I upgraded last year set me back a grand with a trade in of my old one. I also have a chris king rear hub and bottom bracket. I bought the bike in november of 06 and have over 23,500 miles on it.

3x10 is alot and if you race you dont really need it all.

the weight saving wasn't of my concern, I just wanted 2x10 and I got it. I ultimately dished out more for the 26-39t X0 drivetrain and it rocks!

problem is in the UK mud kills chain sets. the narrower the chain the more it wears down in mud
