It's called insurance. Banks have to pay the insurance which guarantees the backing.

of 233 dems, 94 voted against the bailout.

of 202 repubs, *133* voted against the bailout.

based on numbers alone, i do see partisanship, but not on the part of the house majority. thoughts?

The Republicans need to address what the exact percentage of the population this bill helps. Not point fingers because of one speech. The truth is that this bailout is top heavy. It has names attached to it. Not the millions of unnamed Americans who would have to foot the bill. We just need to make sure bailing out the business does not bail out the people responsible for the failure. Ultimaly we have to look who is losing here and why.

EXACTLY!!! its pissing me off... i am pro-obama (and voting for him), but i am sick of everyone saying "we don't need partisanship... "the other side" is injecting partisanship". HELLO!!!  they both are and they need to get the eff over it. mccain should have stayed the eff out of it in the first place b/c his move forced both his and obama's hand. sad sad sad.
