@joshfrmn No, job creation wasn't a problem when he was governor. Unemployment in MA was 4.7%. That reflects normal employee turnover from people quitting, being fired or otherwise transitioning. People get confused because with the current high unemployment rate it's important to create jobs. But that's not always the case, especially in a state like MA which is the 3rd most densely populated state and they aren't looking to have more people move there (like Texas or others sparsely populated)

In a densely populated state like MA, there's no need to bring in more people for the sake of creating gratuitous jobs. But in a sparsely populated state like Texas there's plenty of room for more people to move in and bring new business. Get it?

When it comes to how many people were claiming unemployment, what matters is how many people were in the labour force, not how many people resided in the state. Unemployment between 4-6% is considered healthy. Below that and above that are both unhealthy. And its not just people laid off. It's anyone who is not employed but has been looking for at least a month. That includes kids who just graduated from high school!

You can't claim unemployment if you quit because businesses have to use the money they PAY into an unemployment account to pay for the people they lay off. @tommygun060 you are mistaken. Bain Capital took FAILING businesses that were in trouble and invested in them and tried to turn them around. In order to do that they had to scale back the companies, make them more efficient, and then build them back up again. Over 100,000 jobs were created. They were not 100% sucessful in saving every business. However, those that did not work out would have gone under anyways and those people would have lost there jobs in the first place.

It was caused by loans given to unqualified people and by financial institutions packaging these loans and selling them as investments to unwary investors. In a recession when nobody is investing and there is not enough liquidity in the financial sector it is paramount that the Fed provide it. The dollar is fine.

There is precedent for mandates in Massachusetts for mandates. They used to mandate the purchase of guns and also the helping of the poor.
On a state level, the Massachusetts health care plan was 100% constitutional.

@admthrwn Check your history. A mandate a the state level is 100% constitutional. After the founding of our country, Massachusetts mandated that it's citizens buy guns. They also mandated that it's citizens help the poor. Not only was it constitutional, there was precedent for it. In addition, the vast majority of the people in Massachusetts support the healthcare there.
Also, both the Heritage Foundation and the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation supported Romney's plan.

@joshfrmn No, job creation wasn't a problem when he was governor. Unemployment in MA was 4.7%. That reflects normal employee turnover from people quitting, being fired or otherwise transitioning. People get confused because with the current high unemployment rate it's important to create jobs. But that's not always the case, especially in a state like MA which is the 3rd most densely populated state and they aren't looking to have more people move there (like Texas or others sparsely populated)

In a densely populated state like MA, there's no need to bring in more people for the sake of creating gratuitous jobs. But in a sparsely populated state like Texas there's plenty of room for more people to move in and bring new business. Get it?

When it comes to how many people were claiming unemployment, what matters is how many people were in the labour force, not how many people resided in the state. Unemployment between 4-6% is considered healthy. Below that and above that are both unhealthy. And its not just people laid off. It's anyone who is not employed but has been looking for at least a month. That includes kids who just graduated from high school!

You can't claim unemployment if you quit because businesses have to use the money they PAY into an unemployment account to pay for the people they lay off. In other words unemployment rate = lay off rate. 300,800 were on unemployment (or were laid off) when he left. The actual unemplyment was higher.

@tommygun060 you are mistaken. Bain Capital took FAILING businesses that were in trouble and invested in them and tried to turn them around. In order to do that they had to scale back the companies, make them more efficient, and then build them back up again. Over 100,000 jobs were created. They were not 100% sucessful in saving every business. However, those that did not work out would have gone under anyways and those people would have lost there jobs in the first place.

It was caused by loans given to unqualified people and by financial institutions packaging these loans and selling them as investments to unwary investors. In a recession when nobody is investing and there is not enough liquidity in the financial sector it is paramount that the Fed provide it. The dollar is fine.

The Fed will make short-term dollar loans to the ECB and other central banks through “swap lines,” swapping dollars for an equivalent amount of euros. There is precedent for mandates in Massachusetts for mandates. They used to mandate the purchase of guns and also the helping of the poor.
On a state level, the Massachusetts health care plan was 100% constitutional.

@RomneyPHONY More self-identified Tea Party members support Romney than any other candidate. Romney took a courageous stand against gay marriage in Massachusetts as well as on many other issues. He was given an award from the Massachusetts Citizens for Life for his vetoing of pro-choice legislation.
Romney also was praised by the Massachusetts Taxpayer Association for reining in spending and balancing the budget all 4 years as governor.
Romney is the real deal.

@admthrwn Check your history. A mandate a the state level is 100% constitutional. After the founding of our country, Massachusetts mandated that it's citizens buy guns. They also mandated that it's citizens help the poor. Not only was it constitutional, there was precedent for it. In addition, the vast majority of the people in Massachusetts support the healthcare there.
Also, both the Heritage Foundation and the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation supported Romney's plan.
