You aint got nothing else to lean it against except a jet ski? Seems like you wouldn't want to scratch the jet ski with a rim but maybe that's just me.
SALT DOES NOT HURT ALUMINUM. the salt just take the clear coat off, just like a rock would. oxygen wrecks aluminum. its similar to copper except copper cannot take uv rays.
I used a better method, Jack the car up, put the wheel onto the car and stick it in gear, hold the paper against the wheel and use it like a lathe, this will give a perfect and very fast sanding finish, only idle speed upto second gear or you will lose your fingers!,work your way right down to 1200 grade paper, then use a 2k laquer with hardner, works a treat
You'd have to re-apply the clear coat to if you use most any tire or wheel cleaner.
5 Stars the other guy on eHow with a Grand Cherokee in his garage basically talked about removing corrosion. The wheel was pristine therefore making his video useless.
Is there no other way to get it off without sanding it?

Took so longer to do that little part. Then do the entire wheel. Oh and guess what, 3 more to go just like that :p

where can i buy the clear coat for the rims?
mikebakeson123 2 years ago
@mikebakeson123 Don't. It's aerosol and will leave little bubbles and won't be completely clear, it will scratch and stretch creating white streaks.
