What is all the comotion about, It's about the story being told not how or who sings it. Listen to the words and you can here the pain and anguish of a man who was used by king and country to be a privateer and who had been maimed by listening to others instead of staying home.

@kimmysco did it ever occur to you that most of the crews of privateers were either scotish or irish and the corries meant no disrespect to the original, when they do a cover they always attributed it to the song writer, they merely adapted it for a scotish audience

I like the Cories a lot, but they have gentle sweetness that doesn't quite convey the anger of a guy who's lost both legs and six years of his life to a stupid misadventure. Stan's version is not as pretty, but a lot stronger.
