People have different age limits. Their are boxers who can surpass 40 and still have it, like Hopkins. Then their are people who reach 30 and fall apart. In this case, Chavez is not those who can surpass 40..After his young years he fell apart.

De La Hoya was not even in his prime here yet. He was mostly a left handed boxer. 4 anyone who doesn't know boxing, he didn't effectively use both hands until around 1999. u could make the argument that chavez wasn't prime but also that Oscar wasn't prime so it was a fair fight. Oscar drank/partied a lot too so no xcuses on either side. Both r badass Mexicans so I don't c the reason for raza 2 b divided on these 2 gallos. Also Meldrick Taylor beat him in his prime and he wasnt a great fighter. Regardless of the stoppage he was winning. Im not a huge DLH fan but he would beat a prime Chavez. His son is just like him. I am pretty sure Chavez would've won if he was younger,but this kind of stuff always happen.You fight in your prime,become a legend then you get old then the new fresh generation comes and takes you down.I mean it just happened to De La Hoya too.He did alot in his prime,got old,and got taken down by a younger opponent.In this case Manny Pacquiao.Maybe the same might happen to Manny Pacquiao.Who knows.Its just the chain of boxing.You can't be young forever.

The mistake that Chavez did was he didn't learn from the first fight, he didn't cut the ring off... Maybe he was so determined to KO Oscar that's why he was just following him. But watch how Trinidad had success with De La Hoya's hit and run style. Tito was was cutting the ring off.

esto es facil de entender y no solo suponer, la carrera de chavez estaba en picada, por el mismo tiempo, las drogas, los excesos, y en cambio De la Hoya estaba en su momento, por lo tanto se dió el resultado visto. En otras circunstancias el resultado hubiese sido muy distinto.

Chavez looks so old in this fight. His handspeed is gone, his head movement much less than when he was younger.
You can see some of what made him great, but only bits and pieces of it.
I'm glad De La Hoya got raped by Pacquiao after watching this fight. I don't like his bravado after beating a great fighter well past his prime.
