  • I am Jewish, but Barenboim made me antisemitic just thanks the way he plays piano. Quasthoff is one of the greatest Lieder-singers of our days, he could choose any pianist in the world to play with him, Charles Spencer, Roger Vignoles - no, he is singing with this horribly bad-tasted "pianist" with terrible sound and with no rhythm! I have the impression that Barenboim like a kraken has all the Berlin's concert halls well in hand.

  • so beautiful

  • Prachtig powerfull Voice Love it thanks!!!

  • why do I find this so tragic? Der Leiermann absolutely kills me.

  • Very good and pleasant sound!

  • BRAVOOOO!!!!! simply superb!!!!...thanks for sharing with us!!, he is a "living master class" on and off stage. BRAVOOOO!!!!!

  • estupendo, Bravo Sr. Quasthof !!!!

  • Lovely. He should curtail all the other stuff and stick to this lieder type of singing.

  • "Davon bekomme ich Pickel"

  • I love this beautiful interpretation... superb accompanist.Brava!!

  • .....

  • Sublime!

  • love this! have been looking for years for this song - found it tonight!

  • One of the most amazing cd's I have ever bought! This is what music is.

  • Respect!

  • His voice expresses just perfectly all of the agony inside the composition.

    "Leiermann" made me cry.

  • Hate the editing out of the first part. However, this is SINGING!!!!!!

  • as much as i admire quasthoff, when it comes to schubert liedern, hermann prey is my personal favourite.

  • Bravo <3 It's beautiful Bravo!!!!!

    Marie K

  • So beautiful! His voice is warm

  • Bravo!

Bravo !!!

  • his sound is 100 times better and more pleasing to listen to... he is was better than dieskau from a musical stand point

  • there is no successor of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau ! even if i really like Mr. Quasthof .. DFD is unique !

  • flid

  • 1 feels pity & admiration for him, pity for his short & clumsy , almost useless arms, admiration for his wonderful baritone voice & his wonderful dramatic sense

  • @1972jewish bass-baritone

  • Just a comment, the title misspells Quasthoff's name, it says "Quatshoff"!! Beautiful recording

  • I was once at a rehearsal of a concert in which he sang Mozart. He was not only a excellent singer, but also a very friendly and humorous person.

  • Thomas QUASTHOFF is a great musician, I love his art of singing (not only Schumann, Schubert, etc...) but some compliments deserve also the pianist Daniel BARENBOIM !

  • I don´t hesitate to name Mr. Quasthof the legal successor of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in "Lieder". Mr. Quasthof possesses a warmhearted voice, his expression of phrasing is smart and noble at once. A very sublime artist!

  • @100Singers

  • @100Singers without doubt!

  • @100Singers -Agreed.

  • beautiful voice! thanks God to bring such a wonderful rendition to us!

  • wonderful voice.. God bless him

  • what a wonderful interpret and singer he is!!!!

Perfekter Gesang!

  • Barneboim + Quasthoff = Magnefiqe

  • maravilhoso, emocionante, belíssimo.

  • Emocionante, maravilloso, Bravisimo.

  • What a wonderful man Mr quasthoff ...

  • He knows and feel what he is singing!!!!! Amazing

  • can you name any good musician that don't feel what they play??

  • what a great voice!

    BRAVO!

  • Yes a wonderful voice and interprete. He is actually the best singer of Schubert and also really good in Jazz

  • His voice is soooo gorgeous!!!!

  • wandschirm

  • Dear Mr. Quastoff,

Thank you for your great contribution to the Schuber Repertoire.

You were so much fun at the Master Class at Weill Hall!!

  • I'm gonna be a dick if i say my mind. don't hate, you're all thinking it too!

    amazing singing!!!

  • This is such heavenly singing - rarely heard - thank you :-) beautiful playing by Mr Baremboim too..... a straight, honest, true performance by two wonderful musicians without a hint of affectation. I breathe out with a smile :-)

    Bravo!!

  • Bravi !! One of the best interpretations of Schubert's Winterreise !

Excellent singing by Quasthoff and wonderfully accompanied by the great Barenboim.

Great team for this Schubert cycle !

  • Excelente voz, interpretación, Gracias.

  • So drammatic !

  • The Winterreise is a very beautiful work of Schuber.I have some of them in piano transcription made by Liszt.
