Mac App Review: Delicious Library 2 (v2.1)

Brilliant review. I have a couple of apps that I use to stay on top of things Evernote, Bento and now Delicious. Why so many? Because there are some features that I need and right now there is no one app to rule them all. I can use VNC to get back to my home server but, when it is all said and done I am greedy and want the UI and this goes well with my workflow. I have Applescripts that keep them all sync'ed so I happy... very happy indeed. Thanks again.

Hey! Great piece of software. I have a job right now organizing someone's library. It's pretty massive so I was wondering if Delicious Library 2 also locates where the books have been placed on the physical shelves. Lets say if I have placed a photography book on the third shelf towards the left could this program locate its exact emplacement for me?

Can I use this to keep track of my groceries? This would let me keep track of my food and what I need to buy more of. Also, if you scan something into DL such as a book, and after a while the book is no longer carried by Amazon.com, will the book be automatically deleted from your DL or is the information yours to keep after you've scanned it into DL? I guess what I am asking is, are your shelved items linked to different websites or completely local to your computer?

ye ur right, its a library so you can literally keep track of everything you have, i mean i think its good for books, i mean sometimes i forget i have a book, and the app has record of it, but i just have it as a list, i dont really use it that much lol i mean its the same as just writing all the books down on a piece of paper.lol. but ye it looks nice, effort has gone into this app !

hey man, when i try to add something, from usa or canada, it was working fine till yesterday. today when i try, DL comes with 0 results. however, the UK, france, japan and all the other countries have result. do u know what i did wrong? thanks!

Update your copy of DL2. The Amazon API has probably changed.

Very interesting app it would be good for keeping track if what you still own and what you have gave away or sold if you can't remember. I want it especially for when I go to uni and make a shelf for home and one for uni.

@emouch1 What if some one wants to use a game\movie\book then you can just put it in the porgame who has it, or what if some one beaks in you're house, and takes all of you're games\movies\book, and you Don't know what the stolem so there is an app that can help you

@danielson19uk LOL, too funny, It is pretty useless, and this coming from someone who doesn't have much of a life outside my bedroom. Initially I thought this application was going to allow you to download the ebook version of your books for free, since it is using the camera to scan the barcode. Now that would be brilliant.

This is VERY useful if you need to do a "stock check" of sorts, or to itemise all your property for say insurance records, so if you ever have to claim, you have a list of items you own/owned which can be used to replace them.

nope, its just a app to sort things out, it would be nice if it did that, but i imagine there would be loads of legal issues, they would have to get a go ahead from publishers, authors, etc. would be great, but could be legal prbs.

Well yes, I watched the video and I am myself very organised but this is just not something I would want. Unless there was a possibility to add information on what shelf I have a specific book.

Never the less, if I want a book to read, why not go to the bookshelf and look for it there?

ye, cool. i mean ye not every application is for everyone. its just for me, i dont have a lot of room to keep the amount of books that i have, so to save space, and have all my books on record on this app, is great for me ! but hell ye, this app could do more, but i think legal issues will stop it progressing. liek if u scanned a book, it would keep a DIGITAL copy in the computer, now that would be cool, but i foresee legal issues.

I downloaded it after watching your video today, & its BRILLIANT!!!!! The barcode scanning is very accurate, and usually it detects it as soon as I hold it in front of my iSight camera!!!

I used it for a few months. The novelty of the bar code scanner wears off rather quickly. Once we all start buying/playing out media digitally, all this software will be obsolete.

ye i understand your point, but i mean for me BOOKS, as much as i like them digitally, i will always prefer a hard copy. till we an get full colour and pictures into ebooks on ebook readers, then i wont be interested at all. in terms of dvd and cd, i buy films and music, but for HD video, i buy blu-ray atm.

Sometimes, the refection makes it harder for the program to read!, take the paper cover out and then you will be able to scan it in without any errors
