@HotRodHeaven chevy does just fine with mpg, the ls1s can pull 26 on the highway, and the ls3 vettes can pull 30+ highway.

Newer Cameros and stang front ends are configured to prevent rear end from drifting...makes it hard. Older ones are easy and fun to drift...or adjust front end and make newer ones easy too

lol actually GM stopped making the Fbodies because fords mustang was outselling them 3 to 1. for every 1 camaro OR firebird, 3 mustangs rolled off the lot, and you can chalk 75%of them to v6 grocery getters for mom and grandpa who wanted higher seating and more civil driving manner.

You have to remember though that camaros and especially firebirds ( mainly the trans am) cost much, much more then a mustang and so were better equiped for driving all the way from the suspension to the engine so the price was driven up for its higher capability of being a true sports/muscle car. The mustang was built to sell more with a cheaper msrp and insurance due to the extremely small engines.

And the cobras were few and cost to much for the preformance and of course were only availbe with a 5 speed making it unapealing to the real drivers who were looking for sportiness with a 6 speed and a beefy 5.7L v8 that got the same mpg as a ford 4.6L. Yet as mentioned the mustangs were mainly bveing sold as a V6 model apealing to women who didnt need a 3xxhp engine.
