This recording is from 1979, that's true. The conductor is Karajan.

I find very delusional the opinion about his voice, that he is lyric tenor.

This recording is done in 1972, so Carreras was 26 here and he is singing this aria so well!

No any lyric tenor would sang it in 26!

According to the notes that accompany the recording that I have of this, which is the same as this recording, it was recorded in 1979. I was not aware that he ever recorded Aida earlier than 1979.

The conductor was Hebert Von Karajan, Aida Mirella Freni Amonasro Piero Cappuccilli and the record is made in 1972 I have this one.

I just LOVE this!!! I've listened to several other versions of Celeste Aida on YouTube from various tenors, and Carreras' version is my hands down favorite. To me, this is just stunningly beautiful. Thank you so much for answering my request!

Sin duda, una de la más Bellas Voces, de éstos últimos treinta años, el Maestro José Carreras, es un tenor ideal,para un Rodolfo, un Edgardo,pero jamás par un Radamés,su color oscuro de voz, hace que lo confundan, y él mismo se deje confundir, por un tenor spinto, cuando realmente es un exacto lírico.
