  • my grandfather played the box (just learned that term lol) and he is from Tournafulla (cleanglass commons) in the slibh luachra, and just learned that this is where Irish music comes from, now i know why in all those old pics are a lot of boxes lol. You guys sound great. I come from the Mulcahy family of the Commons (we used to have Mulcahy's pub i Tour, but i found out it was recently sold. I'm in Brooklyn.......Love the music

  • That's a killer polka set!

  • Mighty.

  • banjos do not belong in sliabh luchara music. fiddles and boxes are the instruments of sliabh luchara musicians. i know im from there.

  • @TheShambollix ur an eejit if u think that!

  • @goldenwonderpotato. banjos are played in sliabh luachra music but what The Shambollix is saying is true. Long drawn out notes and double stops which make this style of music what it is are hard to play on a banjo, so banjos are not used as a representative instrument of Sliabh Luachara

  • @TheShambollix To say banjos don't belong in Sliabh Luachra music is very harsh. They are not as common in the area but I know a few great Banjo players from the area who can play a polka or a slide just as well as any fiddles or boxes....I'm box player myself.
