German comes from Dutch, not the other way around. Dutch hasn't had any change in pronunciation, German did, and that's where our history splits.

in all seriousness. dutch, swedish, german and norwegian decent from one ancestor. there is no telling which of the four it was.

@guckmal123456, LOL, you're talking to me as if i'm implying Dutch hasn't changed at all. I didn't mean that of course. But Dutch and German used to be the same language some thousand years ago. But the Germans started a vocal change, which the Dutch didn't do. Some examples of change are k=>ch: Dutch: ik German: ich. p=>pf Dutch: Paard German: Pferde. We didn't have that change + German has more saxon influences (cf Dativ: "Dem", and Dativ in older Dutch is "den".) Dutch is more Frankish.

@c0rn1x: Dutch is not a dialect of German. There used to be an ancestorlanguage, which we both had in comon. The Germans had a second vocalshift, and we didn't have that second one. We are closer related to Nederduits, our comon ancestorlanguage.
