I'm running ArmA on Athlon X2 5000+ which is only 2.6 GHz per core (and you know how Athlon's GHz compare to Core 2's GHz) - the game runs fine. Are you sure your videocard isn't a culprit here?

Also keep your eyes on Operation Flashpoint : Dragon Rising, it's like arma.

I Downloaded the demo for this game. I can play it in co-op online, with all settings turned to their highest. But there is a certain degree of lag, however I heard that ArmA had a number of bugs which caused it to lag, and these faults were solved with a patch to increase the FPS. I was wondering if my frame rate would be likely to increase if I bought the fully updated version?

The latest version (1.15Beta) is FAR more smooth than the original release and the demo. You'll get a big performance improvement with the full version. The sequel isn't far off though so you may wish to wait for that instead, but then you can get ArmA Gold for next to nothing that includes the expansion pack Queens Gambit.

I ran out and bought a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ OC with 1gb of gddr3 and it looks AWESOMENESSS. I especially love the night missions with night vision on, tall grass, the terrain, explosions, parachuting down, moving in prone through grass, hearing the crushed leaves as I move through them. Once, I swear I had someone in my scope and through my acog I saw and heard a yellow and black butterfly fly in front of my scope, smile wave and said high. It was crazy on weed. best game ever!!!

Armed assault, shooter pretending to be a real combat simulation with retarded AI. Arma atleast prevents jumping and shooting and you don't have to put 3 mags in someone to make them drop. If Arma2 will be playable indoors and with a good AI(handling vehicles etc) it will be the best game ever. I'd rather play Quake or BF instead of C.od.
