I think what's funny is I'm voluntarily joining the military (ROTC) to come in as an officer in the Army Finance Corps so I can get job experience before actually getting my dream job (accountant/consultant). I've never actually heard any brain washing slogans. The people who enlist that are also enlisting for the sake of fighting and killing end up being the ones who realize war is not something to be taken lightly. Everyone else voluntarily joined knowing what they're going to go through

@holiness1031 As for people actually fighting, there are 3 million people in the military and 90000 in Afghanistan, a mere .03% of the armed forces. The rest are in Europe, Asia, and various bases around the world. I doubt there will be another World War, unless something messes up with the current cyber war with Russia, Iran, China, and North Korea. But for now, there are many people who need jobs, and a good majority of them are in the corporations who supply the DoD.

It is common knowledge by now that the overwhelming majority of those serving in the military are financially motivated. I have several friends in the military who have told me the overwhelming majority of U.S. soldiers don't care about politics/foreign policy, but are just doing a job for a paycheck.

Our men and women who choose to serve our country while on active duty, between extended deployments and training, when they get down time, they want more than anything to see their families.
