  • Ugh! Poor George. He spent the whole of his life trying to prove he was equal to John and Paul. In the end, he ended up proving JUST THE OPPOSITE!

  • I saw George and Ravi Shankar in Seattle in 1974...Dark Horse tour...yes George's voice was hoarse--even on the record, if I remember correctly. Bass player is Willie Weeks, who toured with EC and Steve Winwood in 2008-ish and inspired the band to include "Them Changes" in their performance. 1974 George Harrison tour--Willie Weeks, Andy Newmark (drums), Tom Scott, Billy Preston. Great band, great performance. So glad I saw ONE Beatle in my lifetime. Maybe I'll see Paul sometime.

  • @JeffW77 your soo lucky I wish I had seen George Harrison :P maybe I can see Paul though. :)

  • I was in ninth grade and saw this tour open in Tulsa OK. My brother and I ate at the Mayo Hotel with our dates before the show and saw Billy Preston with much of Leons entourage go through the lobby. George opened with an instrumental Hari's On Tour. The show was awesome. The Ravi Shankar was a little tedious to me. The place was full of hippies smoking weed. His voice was fine that night. He started the tour in Tulsa because as George put it-it was the home a very good rock n roll piano player

  • This was the second rock concert that I got to see. I had my choice, I could see BTO or George Harrison. I picked George and never looked back. It was my first introduction to Indian music since Ravi did the first set. It was also the first time I saw an arena filled with pot smoke. The second set featured Billy Preston, Leon Russell, Tom Scott and a host of others, along with George Harrison. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen, including seeing Paul earlier this week.

  • I saw this tour in Philly. RIP GEORGE

  • @Surfinstro Just Watch this /watch?v=e1vsXohxQGU

  • Can't get much more vintage GH than this.

  • i love how they all look like they're carved out of treebark in this video.. the visual quality is so impressively bad.. love the song though

  • Shame nobody have a decent original video of this outstanding song.thanks anyway.

  • It's a rehearsal in A&M Records Studios in Los Angeles for the 1974 North Amercian Tour.

    We all miss you, George.

  • R.I.P. GEORGE!!! Miss you!!

  • The guitar is a Roger Zemaitis

  • The Dark HOARSE tour!!!

  • great song but i remember something about george having terrible reviews on this tour because of his laringitous . this actually does nt sound bad to me but i do remember hearing the lp and thinking he might have been best leaving doing the vocal for a few months untill his throat healed . i still think george produced the most interesting solo material . not to detract from the others though

  • yeah,i think thats what turned him off of touring,to bad, even the best can be beat down by critics

  • George wasn't hoarse from smack, as some have claimed on YouTube. That's absurd! He was forced to record the Dark Horse album immediately before the Dark Horse Tour. He got laryngitis while recording the album, which had a deadline, then started the tour. I saw him on that tour, in 1974, playing in Texas. He was hoarse when I saw him, and yes, the "Dark Hoarse" jokes started, including in Rolling Stone. He still put on an amazing concert, and this, released as a single, is still a great song.

  • looks like he is playing a concert size GUILD acoustic with a very expensive custom rosetta. not a very comfortable guitar, but produces maximum volume.

  • That's a Custom-made Tony Zemaitis Guitar. It's not a Guild.

  • George really was the dark horse coming out of the starting gate! But he had a brilliant solo career and we miss him terribly!

  • what tipe of guitar is he playing

  • That's a Custom-made Tony Zemaitis Guitar. It's not a Guild.

  • I remember back in the day, 1972, I met a man from Austrailia. he said I was a dark horse. It was the best compliment any one could have given me. I immediatly thought of this song when he said that.

  • What is the best footage of George Harrison doing Dark Horse?

  • I saw the tour in '74. Madison Square Garden Pot Pipe. Ravi Shankar was up there for ever, and when George finally played, his throat was shredded. Nevetheless, and not just for this 15-year-old, the excitement was absolutely electric, like Beatle fighting in a big heavyweight fight there, but Ravi wore us down, George was just ok, and it was a bit of a hazy bummer. cool.

  • amazing song. Even when its poor quality. George i love you and hope you have already blessed my life with your music and insights. You are my hero and always will be.

  • I love george harrison,

at this time he performed, it he had a sore throat, that's why the recordings are so hoarse.

But I really love this song!!

Dark Horse is my favourite of all George Songs,

you should watch the demo version of "Dark Horse", where his voice is normal.

    sooo cute :-)

  • My favorite footage of George! Debauchery George!

  • ele tah parecendo o "esqueleto" do He man, ou akelas caveirinhas q tem olhos e coisa e tal rsrsrwr

  • I'm gonna put a Drive In movie theater screen on the back of my Cape Cod with it's raised roof 'En Have A PARTY!-He Was Cool!Rock n Roll!

  • Great tune...It's definitely my favorite George song!! (obviously haha)

    :P

  • This song got me through my awkward, teenage years.

  • George amazing!

  • I have the 45 from December 1974. can't get it on iTunes! darn it!! can't get Ringo's studio version of "Photograph" only the icky live version! what is up with that?

  • rights are expensive?

  • Get the cd. I know it's on the Best of George Harrison

  • my top beatle, geaorge, then paul john, ringo.who am i kidding i love all them beatles even billy preston the 5th beatle

  • Great song!

  • HorseWhig. Political horse? Or you can't spell the word WIG. Either way, fucking loser

  • Brown rice! Yak!

  • George had jerry-curls!

  • This is a really good song!

  • The story of my life. This man was,EVERYMAN.

  • I saw this tour. I used to have a very good cassette of the show in Tulsa but, alas, the years have lost it. Even so, I don't remember laringitis. Maybe Leon Russell's Doctor fixed him up before the show? Leon appeared at the end of the show. Rumors had Clapton on the bus but, if he was, he didn't show his face. Billy Preston was on keys. Jesus what a band. Good to see Tom Scott on flute. Great music. Ravi did an entire set too - full ensemble. They wouldn't give anyone that kind of budget now

  • Thank you so much for sharing. I remember the song and I had the 45 of it. Does anyone remember the flip side of the 45. He was singing and he also had lost his voice. A very interesting song. I think it was called "I don't care anymore" Wuld of loved to have gone to one of those concerts but to be honest I was about 11 or 12 but I was so into his music. Not his religion but I guess how he combined the two.

  • @timbrewolf1 - I was there too. I do remember Harrison's voice was in bad shape but it didn't matter as it was a great show. Was sitting behind the stage and saw Leon starting to walk onto the stage before most of the crowd did. It was fantastic.

  • @sooners1959 I was off to the side and saw Leon earlier than some too. Get this: My "ticket" was through a neighbor, a Tulsa cop, who drove me to the show and had me wait in the basement while he checked in and came down and opened a little known door!

  • Dark Hoarse...

  • @OrinocoJim I just read somewhere that's what critics and fans both called this tour in 1974.

  • Dark Hosre is an underated alblum.

  • Harmonious- talking about ghosts...

  • I understand that the 1974 tour rehearsals took place at A&M studios in Los Angeles, where the Dark Horse label was housed at that time. This footage may be from those rehearsals.

  • It's a pity this isn't better quality.

Hey Beatle fans why not join A fansite.

Theres a great one called Beatles number 9.

    See you there, Mclenarr

  • Le son n'est pas terrible mais je branche quand même,,,,

  • he had laryngitis during this whole tour

  • the worst quality.... but, george and the music, the best!!!

  • He had Heptitus I think and the Damn Record company was pressing him to complete his LP and I think that he wasn't happy with the result.... I feel bad for him....

  • Wow, awesome song :) One of my top favorites of George Harrison *cheers*

  • He looks like himself in the Yellow Submarine cartoon.

  • He looks haggard, like he grew older ahead of time. What happened?

  • Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll...

    Only Krishna stays young forever!

  • This is old footage around the time he first met his wife Olivia, I believe; in the 1970s. He became quite thin for a while but gained weight and looked much healthier after he was married again, stopped touring and had Dhani, his son.

  • he was ill from drinking Olivia made him do acupunctre and clean up his act. There is a record cover with George, covered with acupucture needles on his face

  • te quiero george

    Ana, 17

  • Great song! george Harrison is the best. I love him! peace and love George

  • Jesus, have a good camera ready for when George comes 1974 cameradude!!! Don't y0u know anything !? I can only pray that some good music will come out in the next 10-15 years for my kids to listen to.

  • Turn 'em on to Dhani Harrison's band, thenewno2...

  • wow i love george!!

  • ahhh - thanks so much!

  • Wow this must've been recorded on the first betamax player ever made

  • i so wish this was written before concert for bangladesh ,it would be awesome live with that collection of artists,on that grand of a stage, you go george!!!!!!!

  • I have always loved this song. So great to see his performance, even in this ragged condition. Thanks for posting!

  • i agree!!! he looks scary with the quality the way it is!! he looks like a skeleton!!

  • Oh geez, the quality makes it very creepy.

  • any George is better than no George -- I sure do miss him! I'll be seeing Wonderwall 26 Feb here in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown!

  • I tink the album after this Extra Texture was his last Apple album so if you notice his greatest hits from 1980 starts in 1976 and all the videos are post that year in the DVD box as well as I think Greorges contract was with Warner and he has all the rights- so in effect it would be geat to see these videos in pristine condition- I am sure filmed the tour in 74

  • I remember back in 1974, having seen the shows at Madison Square Garden, George was interviewed and stated that the shows were being filmed and if they werent any good they would never see the light of day cause he owned them and would go back into his cave.

  • another one not part of the DVD? I bet anything a Beatle fan has a mint copy of it and Olivia doesn't.

  • Love this song!! Love George!! Wish it was better quality!

  • Is there a better quality version -This is a great under-rated Georeg song- got played on teh radio all the time back then- but the quality of this video is hurting -wonder if there is afull length video of this tour

  • this sucks

  • you suck!

  • I stood in line to get tickets for a whole day with my sister back in 74. The day of the concert, a blizzard came thru Ohio and the concert was cancelled!

  • I have an audio boot of this show fvrom Dallas, its been floating around for years. I never knew there was any video from the tour. thanks for sharing... please share more!

  • He really was the Dark Horse, and also one of the greatest.

  • I love this song. George took his hoarse and used it as an asset

  • Is this the tour that got negative reviews from critics because of George's sore throat?

  • I was at two Dark Horse shows at the Fab Forum in LA and still have a ticket (new!) to one show. Can I get a cleaner copy of this? What show was it from? Do you have more? George harrison, Willie Weeks, Tom Scott and the LA Express, wow, awesome show.

  • sounds hoarse!

  • George in very bad voice

  • Two geniouses have met. If you look carefully, you´ll notice that the man wearing a "woman´s" hat is Robben Ford

  • this is great!

what is the story behind this film??

  • george said himself that his voice was shot at this time

  • harrisongs, baby

  • The two videos would be better presented separately.

  • great video post

  • could you please make a video with the original song and random video???

i d be very glad if you did it

    thanks

  • WOW!! My first concert ever was George Harrison during his Dark Horse Tour, November 24, 1974, (I was 13) at Hofheinz Pavillion in Houston, Texas. Seeing this really brought it all back...sent shivers up my spine. Thanks a million for posting this video!!!

  • Hey! I was at the same concert at Hofheinz Pavillion! Remember when they turned up the lights in the audience when he sang "My Sweet Lord"? What an intensely spiritual experience that concert was! God, I miss George so much!

  • At the fist show in LA I was up dancing in the asile and they put a spot on me, way up in the 40th row backstage. I was transformed by the chanting and dancing.

  • I love George bu the didnt look very healthy here

  • Wow. Never seen this. Nice rendition of the song too. I presume that is Tom Scott's "L.A. Express" playing on this.

  • One of my faves of George. RIP. Great video. Thanks.

  • i did,nt know there was a video for this song.

  • yes thanks for posting the magic

  • Before he had his teeth capped. Nice.

  • Cool video! Thanks for uploading it! I've never seen this before! :)

  • Cool.

  • Great... though the video quality is not good, George Harrison's song saves the video. Where do you found this? it is known that he recorded the song from this life version, he just sang it once and he was ill (that's why he had a different voice on this one) this is really rare footage, very cool, very good!!!
