@RobJuanDeLaNooch I think it was challenging. The first phase is pretty standrad, nothing special, handles exactly like Sonic 2. The second phase is not too bad, you just have to be ready to spindash under him constantly, and you can tell when he's about to land on you - It's right when the target marker stop blinking and turns green. The final move is his last ditch move, EVERY GOOD BOSS HAVE ONE! Just jump around and do homing attack all the time and you should hit him.

I CAN NOT beat this guy, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I try the tactic in this walkthrough, but it doesn't work. At all. Once he goes all apeshit, I die before he even becomes vulnerable. Strange, I managed to beat Dark Gaia in Unleashed, yet I can be this guy, who a lot of people say is really easy...
After how the fight plays out who'd would think to run when he is about to destroy the platforms. You'd think you were just supposed to dodge. I Finally got to were he was going to do his final attack three times before watching this and all you have to do is run.
This guy is so cheap! It takes a zillion hits and (I believe) it's impossible to figure out this boss by oneself without dying at least 20 times. And later, it starts firing those pink shots at you...
I suppose that this boss might have just been a lot harder because I played it on iOS.
As much as the game is great, especially by recalling the old game, I think a game like Sonic should have no save feature, and I still think that the graphic 16-bit is much better, so much I'd enjoy much more if some fanatic (like water mellon with Pier solar) make another sonic in continuation of the sonic hedghog 3.
I would mind if this was maybe called something like "Classic Sonic Levels 3d" or something like that but calling the next series to the original sequel is just disgusting! This is not the true Sonic 4! Sega false advertised! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

I can never understand you Sonic 'Fans'. Whenever they produce those modern sonic games (Sonic Heroes etc) you complain that you miss the retro sonic. Now that they produce a retro copy you complain they're not adding new things. They made the boss fight easy and you say they're dull and Sega has lost it, and when they made the special stage too hard you say Sega is going down. Just enjoy what sega has made, I did. @mxxuang No one complains about Sonic Heroes because "they miss the old Sonic". They miss the "old Sonic" because new Sonic games just suck. Sonic Heroes was so totally messed up it wasn't even funny. Controls, camera, soundtrack, everything. Sonic Adventure had some care and attention put into it, and there were some genuinely great moments. But since then, great moments have been few and far between. I'm not a fanboy, so I'm not afraid to say when something is bad. This boss is terrible.

Watching the ending to sonic 3, the background sorta give me the shivers, and was very unique. This one makes me go "meh".
Every Boss in here was a damn rehash. Sonic 1 boss was obvious as hell. Sonic 2 had something nearly identical to the Casinpopilis boss but easier. Also, had that one boss were the walls moved in. The way it is was eerily similar to Aquatic Ruin Zone. Then the boss with the moving vehicle is an even easier version of Eggman running away in Sonic 3&K in Doomsday Zone. The last boss was obvious, Egg Robo.
Fuck Sega, you made it slower, HOMING, bad music, and rehashes? Do better in Episode 2.
They really couldn't be bothered, could they? The boss is LITERALLY the exact same "mech" from the Death Egg in Sonic 2, apart from this one takes a million hits, you have some rings, and it malfunctions. Wow, great. The main crime here is the music though... Final boss music from Sonic 1? Great. Sonic 2? Even better. Sonic 3? Maybe even better still. This? Er... did they actually play any of the older games? Did they spend more than two minutes thinking up that dull, repetitive piece of crap?
@sonofafitch85 This new rendition of the Sonic 2 final boss is way more difficult. However, he was still rather predictable. Especially because he gives you wayyyyy too much warning when he tries to flatten you. I would've have had Robotnik spend less and less time aiming as he took on more damage, making the avoidance of his stomping far more frantic and urgent as the battle continued. I also would've had him BLAST off into the air, not casually float up and away like he does here.

New Mario games are amazing works of art in the most part, especially Mario Galaxy and the sequel. Mario Galaxy was released in 2007. Sonic Unleashed was released in 2008. Need I say more? If you can't do anything good with your mascot, don't do anything at all.

@mxxuang yeah no, this gameplay is awful. i'm a hardcore sonic fan. you can add new things, that's fine, but they completely changed the flow of the gamplay in this new sonic, and it's just not as fun

@mxxuang No one complains about Sonic Heroes because "they miss the old Sonic". They miss the "old Sonic" because new Sonic games just suck. Sonic Heroes was so totally messed up it wasn't even funny. Controls, camera, soundtrack, everything. Sonic Adventure had some care and attention put into it, and there were some genuinely great moments. But since then, great moments have been few and far between. I'm not a fanboy, so I'm not afraid to say when something is bad. This boss is terrible.

You're dealing with an immense fanbase with people of all sorts in it, Let them have their opinions, this game is very frustrating to me, I didn't like it. It's like people like you get mad at the littlest amount of criticism that a more perfectionist sonic fan would bring up.
enjoy your friggin game, but that doesn't mean they can't make the damn thing better.

This game would look much better if it had genesis graphics. If it had it would just look more impressive, even though we'd know the technology was available. This style just doesn't have the same character.
Watching the ending to sonic 3, the background sorta give me the shivers, and was very unique. This one makes me go "meh".

Every Boss in here was a damn rehash. Sonic 1 boss was obvious as hell. Sonic 2 had something nearly identical to the Casinpopilis boss but easier. Also, had that one boss were the walls moved in. The way it is was eerily similar to Aquatic Ruin Zone. Then the boss with the moving vehicle is an even easier version of Eggman running away in Sonic 3&K in Doomsday Zone. The last boss was obvious, Egg Robo.
Fuck Sega, you made it slower, HOMING, bad music, and rehashes? Do better in Episode 2.

They really couldn't be bothered, could they? The boss is LITERALLY the exact same "mech" from the Death Egg in Sonic 2, apart from this one takes a million hits, you have some rings, and it malfunctions. Wow, great. The main crime here is the music though... Final boss music from Sonic 1? Great. Sonic 2? Even better. Sonic 3? Maybe even better still. This? Er... did they actually play any of the older games? Did they spend more than two minutes thinking up that dull, repetitive piece of crap?

@sonofafitch85 This new rendition of the Sonic 2 final boss is way more difficult. However, he was still rather predictable. Especially because he gives you wayyyyy too much warning when he tries to flatten you. I would've have had Robotnik spend less and less time aiming as he took on more damage, making the avoidance of his stomping far more frantic and urgent as the battle continued. I also would've had him BLAST off into the air, not casually float up and away like he does here.

@scoobsterinc The Star Wars things was a bad example, I was only referring to the movies rather than the expanded universe stuff. Anyway, Mario games are different from Sonic games. New Mario games are amazing works of art in the most part, especially Mario Galaxy and the sequel. Mario Galaxy was released in 2007. Sonic Unleashed was released in 2008. Need I say more? If you can't do anything good with your mascot, don't do anything at all.
