Back in the old days - TV picture quality was actually better, if you look at the large TV screens out 40" plus the picture is stretched that big anyway HD is just making it looking normal again, when people got 40" TVS the picture quality actually went down dramatically because Standard Definition it was stretched up that big, HD now is just putting it back in perspective so really it is not as good as the media always says, it`s just as good really as you were watching years ago.

@digitalmonkeynuts unless your watching a bluray ofcourse this is much better as the bitrate is higher.
