For some reason, I don't get quite as excited about tracker instruments...but this thing is a beast! Beautiful organ! So I still don't see it anywhere, what organ is this? How many ranks?
Sehr gut! Wir konnen auch in deutsch kommunizieren: ich bin italiener aber kenne den deutsch. Hast die Firma auch eine homepage im internet? Bis bald!
yes, that is true. But if you want the complete title of the piece, it's: Variation n.8 - Noël sur les jeux d'Anches, et en Duo from the 'Livre de Noëls'
Try adding &fmt=18 to the end of the URL, that makes the sound quality better on you tube. Sorry I can't bring out more of these files party due to youtube's converting system. If anyone would like to have better sound quality any of my videos email me, and I'll send it.
Dear Jenia, you have to imagine the real live sound. The youtube's quality cannot make justice of a so complex and marvelous organ. I say instead that this interpretation is astonishing, the best that I have ever listened.
I think there was plenty of rubato. It was the first thing that struck me, how expressively he placed some subtle rubato to bring out highlights of the structure.
The only thing I don't like is his registration choice : that's not a french Grand-Jeu so use something else that sounds better on this organ !
Excellent video, thanks for uploading! Olivier Latry; still at Notre-Dame, right? Such an incredible musician. Wish I could go to France to tour the Churches and hear him in person.
Latry will be in Washington, DC on 10/14 @ Washington Cathedral. He should be able to give that great Skinner organ a workout -- in reverberant accoustics. The Cathedral, by the way, will be re-doing its organ starting next year, & when it's complete, should be one of the world's largest: 2 huge organs -- one in the choir, one in the gallery, both playable from the same console.
Merci encore d'avoir
Very good performance! In case someone wants the complete score of this piece, try IMSLP dot ORG, there's even an original facsimile.

Merci Monsieur Latry.

Excellent playing. Good Plenum, though my ears would savor more a cromorne or clarinet for the first phrases.

Superb. Latry is amazing! I wonder if a mechanical action this large requires a Barker Machine or some other assist when all manuals are coupled?

Very nice little piece. The pedal reed at the end sounds slightly out of tune, though I might be wrong.

Also, what instrument is this? I don't think I've seen it before.
willowthebored 2 years ago
that's simple pipe-organ with trumpets! Really impressive one. I played one myself. It just sounds amazing!
friedrichsacher 2 years ago
...do you think I might know what a pipe organ is if I already understand the concept of pedal reeds? XD
I was referring to the specific pipe organ. Where is it, who built it, ranks/stops, etc.

Thats a nice tune in the key of g major

He plays with such incredible grace and ease - - rather like the stories one hears of the greats of the past like Guilmant and Vierne and Widor.
