  • Very good performance! In case someone wants the complete score of this piece, try IMSLP dot ORG, there's even an original facsimile.

  • We live in an age of fast tempos.

  • ...das ist ein ganz tolles außergewöhnliches Stück....

  • Marvilloso organo hungaro y organista frances.

  • This great organist shows how a simple piece can be played with "grandeur"

    Merci Monsieur Latry.

  • Excellent playing. Good Plenum, though my ears would savor more a cromorne or clarinet for the first phrases.

  • Superb. Latry is amazing! I wonder if a mechanical action this large requires a Barker Machine or some other assist when all manuals are coupled?

  • For some reason, I don't get quite as excited about tracker instruments...but this thing is a beast! Beautiful organ! So I still don't see it anywhere, what organ is this? How many ranks?

  • I believe this is the recently sampled organ in Budapest's Palace of Arts.

  • I love this piece SO MUCH. It's excellent Christmas music and Latry's version is one of my favorites.

  • Eine selten gespielte Melodie in absoluter Perfektion vorgetragen. SPITZE!!!!!

  • Very well played! Very good sound quality too.

  • the cromorne sounds almost like a chamade

  • Love that 32' reed pipe on the pedal.

  • I work in the company which has built this organ. A great instrument. With this concert I was present.

  • @Bruzzler10 Wich is the company' name please?

  • The name of the company is Mühleisen GmbH. The company has her seat in Leonberg near Stuttgart (Germany)

  • Sehr gut!

  • the best

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THE NOTES OF THIS PIECE??? Please tell me! It's important!!! Cheers. :D

  • On the Internet!

  • Very nice little piece. The pedal reed at the end sounds slightly out of tune, though I might be wrong.

  • Also, what instrument is this? I don't think I've seen it before.

  • that's simple pipe-organ with trumpets! Really impressive one. I played one myself. It just sounds amazing!

  • ...do you think I might know what a pipe organ is if I already understand the concept of pedal reeds? XD

I was referring to the specific pipe organ. Where is it, who built it, ranks/stops, etc.

  • Thats a nice tune in the key of g major

  • Simply beautiful

Does someone know which is the name of the song?

  • it stands in the title: Noél Étranger

  • but that's a wrong :) it's Noël

  • yes, that is true. But if you want the complete title of the piece, it's: Variation n.8 - Noël sur les jeux d'Anches, et en Duo from the 'Livre de Noëls'

  • He plays with such incredible grace and ease - - rather like the stories one hears of the greats of the past like Guilmant and Vierne and Widor.

  • Bravo Monsieur Latry!

Truly the greatest organist currently drawing breath, in my humble opinion.

  • do you all see how easy he plays

  • nice!!

  • how nice ...

  • Sounds like my electronic organ, a first price Johannus lol... But O. Latry is great, as always ;)

  • Try adding &fmt=18 to the end of the URL, that makes the sound quality better on you tube. Sorry I can't bring out more of these files party due to youtube's converting system. If anyone would like to have better sound quality any of my videos email me, and I'll send it.

  • i won't see any difference

  • It's amazing that a 300 year old piece of music still has a recognizable christmas-feel! Makes you think...

  • Simply magic... P :-)

  • BEAUTIFUL !!! Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • a true artist

  • Wow Lovely Olivier..

  • Which is the complete name of this piece?

  • Olivier Latry and Daniel Roth. Two of the best.

  • and both play at amassing cathedrals!!

  • Sain Sulpice is a church, not a cathedral!

  • Mssr. Latry is organiste titulaire at La Cathedrale de Notre Dame not L'Eglise St Sulpice.

  • Yes, I know. I didn't say anything else.

  • that should be played a little more enthusiastically with a little more joke in the sound!

  • Chi ha costruito l'organo?

  • This sounds so mechanic, like a midi squence in

a super mario video game. Maybe because of the dry acoustic.

  • it's too fast in my opinion, the organ sounds like it cant catch its breath. But his playing is amazing.

  • Dear Jenia, you have to imagine the real live sound. The youtube's quality cannot make justice of a so complex and marvelous organ. I say instead that this interpretation is astonishing, the best that I have ever listened.

  • I think there was plenty of rubato. It was the first thing that struck me, how expressively he placed some subtle rubato to bring out highlights of the structure.

  • The only thing I don't like is his registration choice : that's not a french Grand-Jeu so use something else that sounds better on this organ !

  • Where is this organ located Mr. Lantry?

  • one of my favorite carols, superbly employed!

  • please tell me how u say his last name, because his last name is my first name

  • Lah-tree

  • thank u very much,i say mine lay-tree THANK U VERY VERY MUCH

  • Excellent video, thanks for uploading! Olivier Latry; still at Notre-Dame, right? Such an incredible musician. Wish I could go to France to tour the Churches and hear him in person.

  • Latry will be in Washington, DC on 10/14 @ Washington Cathedral. He should be able to give that great Skinner organ a workout -- in reverberant accoustics. The Cathedral, by the way, will be re-doing its organ starting next year, & when it's complete, should be one of the world's largest: 2 huge organs -- one in the choir, one in the gallery, both playable from the same console.

  • What's MUPA?

  • It's a concert hall in Budapest, Hungary. Municipal U? Palace of the Arts. Sorry I forget what the U stands for.

  • do you have some more videos of latry and lefebvre at MUPA?

  • Yes!

  • please post them!!!
