  • My only complaint is the text goes to fast for me to read sometimes. But otherwise, awesome vid. :)

  • John simm is so cute as the master

  • Benedict Cumberbatch, Derren Brown or Jason Isaacs should be the next Master

  • I always wondered how the 9th doctor would have coped with the master

  • Where i can find the melody that starts from second 27?

  • @HristovProfile

I think its called the Doctors theme, which is on the series 1 soundtrack

  • ...So, technically, the John Simm-version is actually the fourteenth or fifteenth master, (we don't know for sure wether the "professor Yana" incarnation was just an older version of the one that was defeated by the Eight Doctor, or another one)

...And we can ásume that the Delgado-Master was at least the Second.

  • I've found the perfect song befitting of

    The Master

    Master of Puppets by Metallica

Brilliant song!! most of the lyrics do relate to The Master

  • the master has used his regenrations 2 before when he was brougt back to fight in the time war and when he was decaying he was using his last one

    the doctor get more regenerations

  • I hope the master does come back. he's the best villain in my opinion

  • he does

  • MAJOR NEWS!!!!

John Simm is supposedly returning for the final episode with DT as the Doctor as Ther Master!!!!!

Also said to be returning is Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate.

    Lets hope this is true!!!!

  • yeah i heard about that. i think the masters return would be fantastic. but i think the return of the companions is a big mistake. let billie piper rest in peace. tate got a good exit. the only 1 i think who still has a place in who is martha.

but it should be about the doctor n the master. not the companions of the past

  • i recon the episode will be different to the last of the time lords but more like a mystery of how the master survived

  • doubt it

  • is tru facts. john simm has been seen filming with the dw cast

  • how?! If he died, then surely he would have been forced to regenerate?

  • dont ask me man. thats all RTD n crew r sayin!!!!

we have to wait n see.

(I hate that phrase wait n see)

  • I think we all hate it too!

  • I think the regeneration is a choice, not a forced action.

  • not a choice as such. The timelord can refuse to regenerate but they will anyway once their body dies. They have a cycle of 13 lives whether they want them or not.

  • Then how did The Master refuse to regenerate?

  • Regeneration is a choice whilst the timelord is alive, but once they die they are forced to regenerate. This is known because otherwise they would never use up their cycle of their 13 lives (this is known because the master has been given a second cycle by the timelord council) I think the master knows this and is using it as a distraction, The Doctor would drop his guard.

  • id love to see a prequel to doctor who!!!

  • An interesting thought is that There may be things that the Master has done with future doctors... Like when The Doctor met who I believe to be his future wife, in Silence in the Library and The Forest of the Dead. So maybe there will be other Regenerations of the Master. :D

  • You forgot Derek Jacobi.

Technically he was The Master too.

  • hes in this vid :S

  • Lol, that grandfather clock gag just slayed me

  • well you know what, the main thing is how much you enjoy it. thats what this unique and wonderful show is about. enjoyment. trust me tho, get MASTER on audio with beavers and mccoy. fantastic cd, very creepy.

  • yeah it sounds fantastic

  • actually the anthony ainley master was torn to pieces by an alien in 'the scream' painting. it turned him back into the scared master who after meeting the 7th doctor escapes agin. but the doctor wipes his memories and makes him into dr john smith. 10 years later however, the master starts to leak through. audio adventures. dust breeding and the superb master cd. check em out.

  • yeah iv heard little bits about that story. i tend to focus on the series n books. simply cos iv not listened to the audios. i accept they should fit in canonically. like book wise i recon it goes. dr who tv movie. EDA Novels. the audio series. then time war

  • Wow, the master eventually turned sexy:P!

  • is david tennant the 12 doctor?

  • im not entirely sure tbh

i looks like it should be. i mean after all it was a full regeneration, just the energy created another doctor instead of a new body

  • i think tennant might now be either the 13 or 14th because he was forced to regenerate in The sound of Drums, by the Master, then again in The Stolen Planets, both times remaining the same, but going through a regeneration thase

  • actually the master suspended his ability to regenerate. at the very most hes now the 11th doctor given the events of the stolen earth

  • then at the end he turned young again when everyone said Doctor. Doesnt that count as a regeneration?

  • well as u can see it wasnt the regeneration that theyve established in the series. of his cells dieing etc and a reborn doctor. which automatically means a new doctor who recently didnt occur due to very special circumstances. but the master episode renewal was a different kind of energy. not a physical regeneration

  • ok my next question is in The Sound of Drums, we see a female hand picking up the ring trhe Master wore. Wore those symboles ojn it the ones from the fob watch and if so, is it possible it is a Cameleon Device containing his consience?

  • thats not a bad idea actually. but i honestly dont know. all that is known is that scene is there to allow writers to resurect the master in the future. heres hoping john simm returns. even if in a deformed state. how cool would that be the return of the skelatel master

  • that would be cool, but heres another theory loads of us here have : in most epiosodes after Catherine tate joined him, The Doctor met women with no names, including The Hostess. Also, there was the man from unit who told martha he didnt want to tell her who he was. There was also a monitor that was black and white. We believe all of them to in fact be, the great Master in disguis, maybe he is actually possessing his wifes body, and disguised as The Hostess, the UNIT man etc ...

  • or the rani

  • Ahh the Sun.. the same paper owned by the same Idiot that owns Fox 11, Spread Rumors and BS everywhere both the paper and the fox 11 'news' channel are total rubbish.. It's well known Tennant wants to move on to other things, but NOTHING has been Confirmed!

  • you were right!!!!

    now do 1 for davros!

  • my video maker software isnt working anymore

    otherwise i would

iv got loads of vids which iv created but couldnt save as a file to put online

  • hang on the man 1..27 into he video. isnt that the master old man from series 3 but a little younger.. looks v much like him

  • yeah it is him! at the time it was the only photo i could find cos the rumors for his return had just begun

  • is derek jacobi in the seris I Cluadius if i am correct =P it was done around 20 - 30 years ago so he wud have been abit younger

  • Ooh, I wish too. Let's wish for our lives.

  • Outstanding effort,T-Elliot

  • thankyou very much

  • The first Master is the only one that matters.

  • And John Simm is also the next Doctor if rumour is to be believed.

  • Most of the other Doctors only did about 3 years - Tom Baker was by far and away the longest serving at 7 years. Tennant is doing another series and 3 specials in 2009, so that will be 4 years - then I think he'll call it a day. Eccleston was just an asshole quitting after 1 season.

  • Eccleston was afraid of becoming a typecast. He still wanted other roles in things.

He did make a good Doctor though. Sad at seeing him leave.

  • I agree

  • David Tennant is still the Doctor. Ignore rumors.

  • hahaha i wish

  • And John Simm is also the next Doctor if rumour is to be believed.

    I think that would be...funny...weird...GREAT...w00t.

    My train of thinking.

    Actually I'm laughing.

  • I widh

  • Sorry.

Thats i wish at john simm being the next doctor. Hey, if martha can be two people then why cant he.

  • it would be possible but hes renowned for quiting programs after 1 series! otherwise id welcome him onboard

  • i know this rumor will turn out to be total bollocs! but i heard a story idea that would see simms master n tennants doctor hav a body swop! so tennant would play the master for 1 season. how cool would that be. cos simm would make a superb doctor

  • Well, considering how all of the current series has been filmed, and Tennant's only in half of the next one...

  • All that's been confirmed is that he is in this years christmas special then the 3 specials next year. There is no confirmation of if he is in season 5 at all (which isn't on tv until 2010).

  • The Sun said so. They've not been wrong about a significant Doctor Who fact yet.

  • Well for one they called The Face of Boe an enemy of the doctor on the day that "Gridlock" first premiered.

  • Cite?

  • well I don't have a link since it was in the TV biz section around a year ago. My point was that The Sun hasn't always been 100% correct with the spoilers given about Doctor Who.

  • Well unless you cite it, you've got no way of really proving to me that they made a major error.

  • well you must remember that it said Kylie was the Tardis which turned out to be wrong.

  • I stopped reading the Sun a long time ago.

  • Nothing's been confirmed for David Tennant yet. We only know he's signed on for the 2009 specials and the usual X-mas one.

  • Very inspiring! I did one on Davros, its good to see someone has done the Master...*****

  • thanks very much! i had tried to update this video with the modern information from series 3 but youtube claimed i was brakin copy right

  • They removed my "Doctor Who & The Daleks" video without warning because BBC decided that one was "copywrite infringement". I think they picked that one because: 1.50,000+views 2.using the Title of the film as the title of the video 3.only scenes from the film with no extra music or images mixed in. But i have reposted it with changes! ;)

  • cool! well i dunno what i did! all it was some pics! txt and some music from whomix

  • Yeah, banning often seems random. Mysterious YOUTUBE....LOL

  • you jump to some massive conclusions about Roger's Master. I'm guessing you were going from novels and audio plays. Those are of questionable canonicity in relation to the TV series, as such they are not proper facts about the character's fictional history. What is presented in the show is all we know. How and what caused Roger's Master to become the Thirteenth Master is unknown.

  • well i believe the EDA series to be canon to doctor who! u dont hav to agree with me! but theyr a great series n i think they should be considered canon, cos it gives a good reason for the masters deformed incarnation

  • but that's fanon. Which is great, I have a whole list of fanon things related to the Master. Including designating a number to Roger's Master(11). But if dealing with the only certain canon, that of the TV series, then that's all the info that should be used. Oh personally, I think the Master just regenerated that way when he reached 13.

  • well i aint changin it! couldnt if i wanna since i cant make vids anymore!

N im givin a bit of an idea to explain the maters history

  • Oh grow up. It'll happen to you one day too. Its such a natural thing that every living thing goes through I wonder why it's such a big deal!

  • wring wring wring wring wring WRONG!! He didn't find the master about to regenerate, he was a human, and then he reabsorbed his Time Lord essence, after which he regenerated.

  • hi my frriend can you please tell me the tune you use at the start of your video , do you know the name of it of where i could find it as i have been looking for it every where . it is the bit of your video where it say the master finds him self . ??? please can you help me out thanks .

  • right the various peices of music i have used in this video are firstly: doctor who fusion- which i got from the whomix site. the second piece of music is called "the doctors theme", which can be found on the album they released for the new series, the revealing of simm was a peice of music from the same album called "the lone dalek".

i hope that is of help to you

  • Ello mate, I sent ya the wrong video the first time around so sorry. I think I sent ya my logo pic. lol. Anyways, I did it again, sending ya my video about The Doctor & The Master. I hope ya like it. :)

  • i saw simm on life on mars when it came to BBCA and i loved the concept! i hope this doesn't mean the life on mars is defunct - or is it already and i'm just late to the wake?...

  • I didnt like simm on "life on mars" but I thought his performance was really very good, better than LOM anyway. Mind you I never saw the old series. I hope they dont kill dalek caan, hes the last one now!

  • i wasnt too fussed on simms character in life on mars! but hes a great actor! n was brilliant as the master

  • don't forget Davros, he's still out there somewhere

  • u know, all the Masters looked somewhat similar, until that Simms guy came along. the master always looked so... scary. Simms looks funny... he's like, the Tennant of Masters or sumthin

    he looks so childish!

  • They killed the master! Thats like killing of the daleks! Which is rather likely seeing as there is only one left!!!!Its all just wrong! Get rid of RT Davies!

  • he'll be back! RTD even left it open for his return! its part of who the master is! he looks like hes dead but returns each time

  • Ive just seen the first 5 mins of the dr who movie: Its rather stupid that the dr makes the same mistake twice of not getting rid of time lord remains properly! I thought he was meant to be intelligent!

  • well, according to Romana, the doc got, what... 51% i think, on his second or third attempt at sum sort of all important exam...

he's smart, just, when he choses to be. guess he didnt' this time lol

  • i only watched this video coz i fancy john simm

  • Cheers for this, found it very informative as my master mythology was a bit sketchy before. Nice one!

  • john simm is soo adorably cute *faints*

  • Please tell me if there is going to be and end of david tenant/Doctor who program on Return of the master part 3, please please please tellllll!!!!!!!!!!

  • Look up dr who-the fools kingdom

  • if the master is not evil, then explain this. why does he attempt to kill the doctor every time they meet.

please note the doctor is the good guy here.

  • The master is evil but not meant to be evil hes meant to be saracstic ect.

  • I don't believe the new Master has much evil in his face..... bad choice guys.. :(

  • i disagree! i think hes brilliant as the master

  • the beeb in its finite wisdom have made the fatal error of humanising not only the doctor but any villan you care to mention, emote luvvies, emote.

  • lol, u used a clock at the end for a TARDIS? lol u shud of got a pic of the tardis!!

  • the idea is that its the masters tardis! not the doctors

  • the masters tardis was a clock!

  • the master had two tardises, both of which had functioning chameleon circuits, so they could be anything, and yes, one was a clock, as well as a fireplace and all manner of other disguises=)

  • i just chose the clock because its what i associate the masters tardis with. As the first episode of him i saw was the deadly assasin

  • a new Time Lord Empire will rise from the ashes for the last of the time lords

  • and the same for the last of the time lords - As the Doctor is captured by the supreme Master, humanity has been reduced to slavery and a new Time Lord Empire begins. Planet Earth relies on Martha Jones to lead it out of the darkness...

  • "Planet Earth relies on Martha Jones to lead it out of the darkness..."

Oy shut your mouth, mate ... O.o

  • no deal

  • this is the plot for the sound of drums - The Master arrives in 21st Century — as Mister Saxon, Prime Minister — and the UK enters a period of terror when contact is announced with an alien race known as the Toclafane.

  • It says exactly those words on Wikipedia

  • The Master was created to act as a "Moriarty" in as much as the Doctor is "Sherlock Holmes" - Equal in every way oapart from their choices of good or evil. He first appeared in the 3rd Doctor (John Pertwee) story "Terror of the Autons" played by Roger Delgado.

  • yes im well aware of that! what did u knick that from wikipedia

  • sorry i replied to the wrong comment. but no i didn't get the info from wikipedia. i am a wee bit older than you so i don't require wikipedia as source of info for Doctor Who

  • nor do i! iv watched n read most of the stuff!

  • good for you

  • i dispise sarcasm! unless its coming from me lmao

  • that wasn't sarcasm. if you would like to continue this conversation get me on msn - danielhumes @ hotmail. com

  • OMG John simm was amazing as the master !!!! Luv him he wud be gd as the Doctor if david tennant leaves

  • yeah i was just thinking that! but they would most likely avoid him since hes notorious for dropping out of shows early

  • OMG i hope he does become the dr cause hes so gd luv him i hope they choose him cause david tennant doesnt want to do more than 4 series *sniff* :(

  • I am only 15 so I dont really know anything about the old series's but I get the impression from various sources that the master is the doctor's equal but evil ... am i right?

  • yes thats correct! im only 17! but iv bin hooked to the show since i was like 2 lol

  • I'm 10 :P

  • Hey. Um...I'm a little confused on the whole "Susan blasted the Master" part. When did this happen?

  • there is an EDA book- legacy of the daleks. Its set after roger delgados encounter with the daleks where he returns to earth (where the doctor left susan)The master reawakens some daleks n its a pritty cool book! but at the end susan manages to blast the master n steals the masters tardis! the end is where goth locates the master n brings him 2 gallifrey for the deadly assasin episode!

  • yay yay yay the masters back but i don,t get howhe got out the eye og harmany useing a fogwatch like the doctor

  • im not entirly sure how he survived (tho this isnt the first time) but i reckon some how he was reborn in the child form that was discovered with the watch. Possibly he was released as some sort of accident as a result of the time war

  • possibley when rose opened the eye of harmony inside the TARDIS the master got out

  • I also think thee chamelon ARCH, can be set to a many other different races, not just human.

  • I feel sorry for the doctor without a tardis. But i got a feeling Jacks space hopper will only manage to get the doctor back into the 21st centuary, because i saw a clip of them in the 21st. And before doctor who was revived, did the master hear the sound of drums then, what is this sound of drums?

  • i got no idea but it was comeing from the watch so it must be something to do with the masters past

  • why would he use his chemeleon ark to be human though? i haven seen the episode yet but i know he is the master, and i thought the master hated humans!

  • I disagree entirely with blushgently! I've loved this series! it's on such a larger scale now- it's been far more consistent than series 1 and 2 (I loved season 2 and billie piper even more) and rivals any top budget american show out there.

  • This series has been dire so far with Blink a notable exception, so I was delighted with tonight's episode. The regeneration was superbly done and the chameleon arc trick was nicely done. It did overshadow the return of Captain Jack, but WOW! The MAster is back and finally (for this series) so is Doctor Who!! Bring on next week...

  • galifray shall rise and destroy the children of skaros!! Don't mess with the timelords!!!

  • i aw that dr who movie with the 8th doctor i knew as i heard the professer say before in utopia the sound of drums i knew it was him

  • Oh my god, I feel like a kid again, that episode was just sublime, marrying Doctor Who with the best time travelling copper this year, John Simm, I can't wait for next week.

  • Ever get that "I told you so" feeling?

  • yeah! everyone knew what was goin to happen! tho we'd had doubts! but never the less it didnt make the episode any less exciting! in fact, when he first said the sound of drums! i couldnt stop smilling the whole way through

  • The bit when Professor Yana (you are not alone) became Harold Saxon was brilliant!

  • The profeeser (aka the master)

Used the chemeleon ark and became human

and stored his soul in the watch

  • that episode was fucking brilliant! the master kicks ass! i loved it n all cos when he looks at the watch u could hear the old masters talking! wow! i cannot wait till next week

  • THE MASTER IS BACK

  • that was amazing

  • "John Simm will play the Master. Simm has been cast to play a politician named Harold Saxon. There is also the casting of Derek Jacobi as a character called the Professor in the episode "Utopia": it is suggested that his character will start as a seemingly benevolent figure whose real identity will be revealed when the Doctor sees him regenerate. Other speculation has centred on a range of theories, including the fact that "Mister Saxon" is an anagram of "Master No. Six" - Wikipedia.

  • ok here is the latest synopsis for last of the timelords:

Earth has been conquered and the Master rules supreme, with the Doctor a helpless prisoner. The entire human race has been reduced to slavery, as the mighty warships of a new Time Lord Empire rise from the ashes. Only Martha Jones can save the world...

    Now that sounds cool

  • Fancy not knowing that, tardiselliot!

  • sorry im never sure what is genuine n whats not! the beeb denys everything

  • Its been confired MR SAXON IS THE MASTER

  • who says that if u dont mind me asking

  • It was confirmed on a BBC website.

  • What a blast! Well, we shall see.....

  • Eric Roberts's version of the Master was only in a TV movie - the others were Peter Pratt, Roger Delgado, Anthony Ainley, Geoffrey Beevers, Sir Derek Jacobi and John Simm.

  • dispite my vids! im unsure whether jacobi is the master! tho i do believe simm is

  • Roger Delgado was the one I remember the most. Sorry about Anthony Ainley.

  • The Master survived the Time War by taking over someone's body. That is what he has to do in order to survive. He is the antitheisis (opposite) of the Doctor in every way. He has had 4 actors play him so far, Roger Delgado, Peter Pratt, Geoffrey Beavers and Eric Roberts. Sir Derek Jacobi is the 5th actor and the 6th is John Simm. Anthony Ainley played him in a video game!

  • anthony ainly did loads more than a game! he played the master from the last tom baker episode on wards

  • You are wrong. There were 5 actors who played the Master. You missed out Anthony Ainley who played the Master during the Later Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy era of Dr Who.

  • Do you read the comments? The Doctor and The Master are two different time-lords. They can not be the same person!

  • The Master and The Doctor are time lords - they are two separate characters. The term "Grandfather" could be seen as a term of affection for an older man. The Face of Boe said that "You are not alone" - there was more than one survivor of the Time War that the Doctor believed that he was the only survivor.

  • ffs does it matter! tell me what u think of the vid not my bloody spelling

  • Russell T. Davies already has confirmed that the Doctor has no son and that would riddiculos! The comment the doctor made about being a dad once refers back to beginning when the doctor's grandaughter Susan travel with him. Although, her orgins have never really been reavled. Remeber he's alien they don't really produce like us. How do we know that the master link isn't just a rumor. Like the ice warriors and the sontarons? Maybe, he's just a timelord like the doctor.

  • According to the earliest and most authoritative sources on "Doctor Who"-- namely its creator Sydney Newman and its first producer Verity Lambert-- the Doctor was indeed married and had children, and Susan is his blood granddaughter. William Hartnell, the Original Doctor, had an idea that the Doctor should have a son who had turned to evil, though he would not likely be Susan's father; if the audio adventure "Auld Mortality" is to be given any credence, Susan's mother was the Doctor's daughter.

  • The Master survives because he (1) is a Time Lord, (2) He needs bodies to survive because he used up all his regenerations.

  • ^^ just read this on the vote saxon website under blog 34 ;D

quote: "Aside from all the truly great classics such as Shakespeare, Marlow - Doctor Faustus being a particular favourite, there are plenty of recent works that I've thoroughly enjoyed. Colm Toibin's "The Master" is very interesting -- a novel I can identify with perfectly."

so surely there can be no doubt now ;O

  • Unless of course it is all big "psych-out" and he's the Valeyard. <g>

  • wouldn't that mean john simm is going to be the doctor in like two more incarnations?

  • in 'fear her' the dr mentions that he had been a dad once. the comment passes with little discussion. any chance that we have all been tricked and that rather than being the master this character will turn out to be his son?

  • Mnah -- I think he was referring to his granddaughter Susan and how, y'know, no grandkids without kids...

  • anyone intrested in a doctor who fan site if so add me as a friend and i will giv u details
