  • To answer my own questions in the 3rd post below this one, the cubical object at the corner of the base is actually a rubber foot pad. The 2 dampers, which are actually aluminum tubes covering two of the small stator magnets, seem to play an important role in tweaking the unit. The wad of whatever on top of the upper damper would serve as a quick fix damping adjustment.

  • At 55 seconds into the video, the rotor and stator rotations appear to suddenly reverse. This illusory effect is probably either due to deceleration of the rotor, or the strobe being pulsed faster.

  • After viewing the first Alsetalokin video, I can see there is actually just one dark marking strip on top of the rotor. Therefore, to see 2 or 3 strips appear, wouldn't that suggest that the strobe light is pulsed 2 to 3 times faster than the rotor speed?

  • Regarding the 2 "Judson Dampers" - the lower one appears normal, but why the blob of chewing gum (or whatever that is) on top of the upper one? Also, what is the object which appears near the corner of the base (right side of view)? An electromagnet, perhaps?

  • How is it explained that the dark marking strips on top of the rotor sometimes appear as 2 strips, and sometimes as 3? I can see that the strips fluctuate because of the rotor not quite being in sync with the strobe, but why the apparent variance in number of strips? Makes it difficult to obseve a true reference point.

  • What's under the table?

  • don't understand what this is supposed to mean. Please explain more :)

  • interesting, thanks!
