I have a question- Is "être" really used for the verb 'passer' in passé composé as given in your list of verbs that use être for passé composé? Because i think it's correct to say " J'ai passé .." (use of avoir) and not "Je suis passé .."
Hello, just a small request...could you please also show the meaning of the examples in English? for eg: il était venu = he had come. It will be very useful. thanks very much!
Thanks. I'm jst learning French and your tutorials have come in pretty handy. Congratulations on the excellent job. As I see it, the passé composé resembles the English present perfect tense, but, unlike English, it can be used for a definite time in the past, too.
mercci beaucoup pour cette lecon, il est tres utile pour moi , je voudrais parle francais, parce que j'aime la facon de prononcer ont un grand jour ou nuit au revoir mon ami

merci beaucoup!!! lol, but i have a question. you know 'vous'? sometimes it is used as a formal greeting for one person. do you still put the 's' at the end?
@imagiers Very good job mate I congratulate for all rthe stuff you upload, it is very helpful and nicely organized. How you get all the time and resources to do that? Is there a company that creates all these or just you? Is your profession a teacher mate? A BIG THANKS AGAIN :)
@acberg1 Why... We can't really answer. You know, it's a rule of the French's language, even French like me don't know why :D
The fact is that with the imparfait we have to put the "ai" suffix, that's why I think It's better to say "étais", "était",... because of the "être" prefix, which is "êt".
@acberg1 - "Être" among other verbs (faire is one of them as well) doesn't behave as the regular verbs. So it does mean that you only need to learn the basic form and then the endings will be the same as the other verbs.
@imagiers I understood it as ´viene de´ which means comes from in spanish, which is kinda the same, it helps to also know spanish, thanks for taking your time to do this by the way

This is really good but it would help a lot if you put the english translations for the examples so that it is easier to understand.
