The reason there are so many people jailed in America is because we have criminalized many drugs. The MAJORITY of all the persons jailed are non-violent drug offenders. Obviously that is a stupid way to handle people exercising their right to put into their body whatever they want, good or bad. What I wonder though, is how do other countries handle the same illegal drug users/distributors??! In some countries smuggling drugs will get you put to DEATH!!! Thats worse than a few years in jail!

@Rockerguy101 that is a very good point. but i think that just because some punishment is better here than other places does not make it right. that is like saying the water is poisoned here, but at least it is not like the shitty toilet water they have to drink over there.

It seems harsh to hear death penality as a punishment.
but how many people are killed due to drug USE?
How many children die of overdose or lose their parents from overdose.
I have witnessed dozen of babies that are born addicts its not fair or a pretty site.
Now if we had good laws and for those that want to smuggle herion and cocain imagine their was a death penality?

I agree some drug users are harmless but this is not the point we need to stop normalizing drug use in movies, music & pop culture its like an industry of indirect drug advertisement. My guess is more pain, suffering and death is caused in America by alcohol more than any other drug. I doubt legalizing other drugs will change that. People already do whatever drugs they want to do anyways.
To respond to your other deleted post I have a quote from a history channel show regarding illicit drugs:
"See this pen? If I could produce this pen for a $1 and sell it for $13,000, you could never stop this"
Stopping drug trafficking seems to be simply impractical.

I did not say we could stop this totally. I agree it would be virtually impossible.
But as mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. WE should stop allowing it to be promoted and advertised as the 'cool way of living, That would seriously minimize the problem and keep it under controll.
And ofcourse Alcohol is number 1 murderer thats because it is LEGALISED and thus imagine the repercussions of legalizing Drugs.

I agree with you about the advertising thing. I think you are right about that. Educating and changing the mind of the drug consumers can do more to fight illegal drugs than the 'war on drugs' ever has.
I disagree about your view on alcohol. When you legalize any drug, it goes underground and gets more dangerous and lethal due to unregulation. There is a very clear precedence for this with the Prohibition. I also think if all drugs were legal, alcohol would still be king by a longshot.

I'm sorry but i have been watching these series for a long time and i do not understand some of it. Previously we learned that a person in Canada was able to get away without any License, insurance etc. I also live in Canada and i don't understand how this works if anyone can explain it would greatly be appreciated. Furthermore what does claiming "Common law Jurisdiction" and "I do not Consent and waive the benefits" mean? How does the work? Who had to pay $3 billion now?

@nafter9 It might have something to do with the number of black urban teens who embrace a culture where dealing drugs is a more noble act than studying a book. Look at ebonics for example: a whole group of people willfully using a guttural version of English that completely revolves around misuse the tools of language. Their great-grandfathers would cry -- decades of fighting for the right to be educated, and they spit in their legacy's faces.
