@Wilsoncheou1 Well firstly, Melbourne isn't Sydney. Sydney is glamourous and good for tourists. Melbourne is a bit different. Travel 2 hours from Melbourne and you can visit phillip island get close with penguins. Uhm, the great ocean road is very popular too.
The Melbourne CBD is ok. Everywhere outside the CBD, the residential areas are really awfully ugly. Melbourne's neighborhoods are an endless, monotonous sea of ugly, run down little brown brick homes with equally ugly yards. This city is totally different from the well kept, tree lined, shady suburbs with large yards you find throughout North America. 95% of homes are brown or red brick which makes for very depressing and monotonous neighborhoods. UGH!!!
@Max5941 Well it depends - Melbourne's outer suburbs, particularly in the south east are often like that, but Melbourne's inner suburbs (the old Melbourne) are very different. There you mostly find Victorian/Edwardian style homes with all the tree lined, shady qualities you so admire.
I went to Australia once. It rained non-stop and flooded my hotel. I went swimming and was almost eaten alive by a great white shark. Everytime I went to go to the toilet a giant spider leapt out at me. All the men are homosexual and all the women are lesbian. They are the most xenophobic people on Earth and all they eat is meat. Their treatment of the Aboriginals is so sad and all they talk about is sport. They are all drunkards and they swear constantly. I am never going back.
Some of Melbourne's so called attractions: Crown Casino is a cesspool, the Botanic gardens are a joke, the Museum is totally pointless and the science centre is located in what appears to be a post apocalyptic neighborhood whose main feature is some old sewage pumps. A very underwhelming city. Don't venture into the suburbs as they are totally disgusting
