Pity it wasn't painted in the proper VR blue, send it up to Seymour Rail Heritage centre and let them paint it properly, you just have to look at B74, S303 and C501, to see what i mean.
I loved the red wooden country carriages with Saised roofs. I went from Spencer St to Shepparton in '78, mid-winter. (15 years old) Each compartment had a beaten up old aluminum can filled with hot water for heat. Classic. VR was like a living, working museum in those days, before the Hamer/Thomson razor gang got to it. It was great. I even remember these ancient rail motors at Woodend taking people to Daylesford that night.
