In my city in Canada we don't get huge snow storms we just -30 weather and cold wind.

you should of been down 9th st. west in Sibley. my car was COVERED with snow! I couldn't get it for 2 days! then I had to wait for the ice to melt under all the snow before I could drive to work! then once I finaly got to work in Sheldon I couldn't make it home for Christmas cuz another snow storm hit and I couldn't see, snow blowing across the road like non-other!!!

Try Chicago...100+ degrees f, 100% humidity sometimes in Summer, -50 degrees f and wind chill sometimes in Winter...

Really nice vid Dave we had 3.5 in here in West Central Georgia it was fun watching people who don't get snow much panic at it. They were thinking of closing the schools for it I remember slogging through 3 and 4 foot deep snow to get to school had to be whiteout conditions to close them back then. Hoping for a quick thaw for you.

Nice photography Dave. We were in SoCal for 5 days recently, and since you already know how warm it was there, I won't tell you (but it sure was NICE, haha!). You guys have a LOT of snow! We're in Oregon now near the Idaho line. We'll be driving through UT, WY, and CO today so the warm weather is over for us for a while. I miss it already! 5 stars.

AWESOME Dave! I love it! I can remember those days. We used to get alot more snow in the 60's than a normal winter now. Looked alot like these pictures. Wow that's some insane snow depth! Did you find out how deep it actually was? I'm in Chicago and the most we've gotten all winter has been about a foot.. Maybe! I want to move to the socal region where its warm, like San Diego. Isn't it about the same warm temp year round? But the winter does have its beauty for sure, and makes me appreciate spring a whole lot more.... and summer and fall ;) Nice video Dave, loved it!

Why are the buildings not covered in snow?

I know that might sound dumb, but wouldn't the roofs of all these buildings have just as much snow? Or, is this some kind of technology the north possesses that they horde to themselves?

Yeah, it's called heat. Heat rises. So inside the building the roofs and ceilings are much warmer than the outside temp, plus being exposed to the sunlight, they collect heat. Thats why all the icicles. The melted snow runs off the roof and freezes.
