The Japanese whalers are not polite, they lie and are dishonorable. When they lost their crew member overboard, Watson tried to offer assistance (as all ships are supposed to in a distress situation). The Japanese refused, and further lied to the media claiming that SSCS tried to harass them during their search operation. They then had one of their ships follow them for hours instead of using it to look for the body of their crew member.

We also did not "run to Asia" - the Japanese are not whaling in Asia, they are whaling in Antarctica, in a wildlife sanctuary. Get a map or take a geography class.
Australia and New Zealand have actually refused to allow the Japanese whaling fleet entrance to any of their ports. Nice how you failed to point that out. SSCS has huge support in both Australia and New Zealand, including crew members from both countries on board. An Australian court has ordered the Japanese fleet out of the Australian Antarctic Territory as well as the whale sanctuary, which they are ignoring. Again, things you conveniently fail to mention.
The reason SSCS focuses on Japan is because they kill far more whales than any other country currently whaling, but in the past have interfered against: Norway, Spain, Denmark, Russia, and the Soviet Union - along with many pirate whalers and others, including the Makah. The only countries I know of that have whaled recently are Iceland and Norway. Iceland had started back up two years ago, and SSCS went to intervene, but they canceled their hunt before our ship could get there.

The Japan Whaling fleet should be sunk & their crews killed. A small boat should speed along side one of the whale murdering junkers & attach a high explosive bomb just below the water line. Then move away and set it off. The only way you are going to stop the whaling is to destroy the means.

It's rather a conflict between "wise use" and "no use" of reproductive resources.

The numbers you quote now are as high as the Minister thinks that can get away with it (face it - the whaling program is not well represented). It is an old policy and things have moved on.
It is still commercial whaling. As your industry is already tax payer funded, and increase in size will also depend on finances. It is a lot of money to spend on something with such huge opposition.

No is just the South and the heatwave is less than a few days old. You might have heard about some unusually high temperatures because of the Australian tennis open. Still most of the main areas have retracting roofs and air conditioning. Soon pretty well all of them will.

sea shepherd is not in asia exploiting the polite japanese. sea shepherd is in the southern ocean protecting whales in a whale sanctuary. japan is the only country whaling in a whale sanctuary nowhere near their own territorial waters. sea shepherd wouldnt dare harass japan in its own waters because that would be illegal. japan whaling in a whale sanctuary is illegal so sea shepherd has every right to be there!

The sanctuary will never bind to carry out whaling there as far as Japan is keeping the opposition against it. This is the proper right as a member of the IWC. Moreover, many people, probably including you, are claiming Japanese whaling as the commercial one without knowing the rules of IWC. They ignorantly believe in its illegality just because the whale meat comes onto the dinner table. I think they should study more about whaling if they really oppose it.

I can say, SeaShepherd and Australia are using the term "Whale Sanctuary" as an excuse to harass Japanese whaling. You can find many comments on youtube by Australians saying "Japan is whaling IN OUR TERRITORY", which is clearly showing their real intention. Australians want Antarctica to belong to themselves, dispite the agreement with the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS). This is the only reason they say Japanese whaling is "illegal".

Tony - Thank you for your videos. There are not any people out there standing up against the sea shepherd. I think that with this new tv show, the captain is right where he wants to be - in the limelight. I dont think i ever recall hearing or seeing Steve Irwin protest whaling. Now everytime they answer the phone its like "Steve Irwin" - Steve Irwin was about education and diversity - i dont think he would approve of his name being used in this contraversy.

The Japanese whalers are not polite, they lie and are dishonorable. When they lost their crew member overboard, Watson tried to offer assistance (as all ships are supposed to in a distress situation). The Japanese refused, and further lied to the media claiming that SSCS tried to harass them during their search operation. They then had one of their ships follow them for hours instead of using it to look for the body of their crew member.
And it's diesel, ships run on diesel - stop saying gas.

We also did not "run to Asia" - the Japanese are not whaling in Asia, they are whaling in Antarctica, in a wildlife sanctuary. Get a map or take a geography class.

Australia and New Zealand have actually refused to allow the Japanese whaling fleet entrance to any of their ports. Nice how you failed to point that out. SSCS has huge support in both Australia and New Zealand, including crew members from both countries on board. An Australian court has ordered the Japanese fleet out of the Australian Antarctic Territory as well as the whale sanctuary, which they are ignoring. Again, things you conveniently fail to mention.

The reason SSCS focuses on Japan is because they kill far more whales than any other country currently whaling, but in the past have interfered against: Norway, Spain, Denmark, Russia, and the Soviet Union - along with many pirate whalers and others, including the Makah. The only countries I know of that have whaled recently are Iceland and Norway. Iceland had started back up two years ago, and SSCS went to intervene, but they canceled their hunt before our ship could get there.
