  • Your videos make me tear up slightly because its just nice to hear some true hope.

  • Great presentation

  • brilliant video x

  • I cannot express how happy this video made me feel, thank YOU from the bottom of my heart :)

  • So if we are who we have been trained to be then isn't the person we want to be (our "true selves") is just a different form of training a person?

So if we become the person we want to be isn't just training, so then there isn't ever a "real" person, just a structure of habbits?

  • LOL Lag.. i see what u did there

  • i can't even do one press up :(

    but it doesn't matter cos i'm a girl :D

    hahahah

  • To be fair with you, i always complain, but i carry on with it and i always find the bright side to things which makes doing things so much better.

  • "The Secret Of Letting Go" by Guy Finley. you brought up many ideas comparable with the main concept of the book. have you read it?

  • are you muslim. is he muslim.

  • I like who I am just now.

  • Lag...Brilliant!

Have you read the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin? I highly recommend it.

  • made my day today!

  • "You are what you repeatedly do" - Aristotle

  • We have the same Harry Potter book collection ! <3 ^_^

  • self-improvement teacher = oxymoron

What about a person who doesn't feel feelings (no emotions)?

  • you are amazing

  • If you want to be happy: forget psychology and, read some Aristotle.

  • @KidBlondie I read Aristotle =) and the most surprising thing I've learned from reading philosophy, religious text, self-improvement books, and neuropsychology is how much there is in common....I think it has not only enhanced, but multiplied my understanding to realize just how many great thinkers have been trying to say the same things just with different methods.

  • thanks man!

  • hey, Harry Potter books!

  • thank you!!

  • hah, I love the row of harry potter books. really enlightening discussion, I enjoyed it.

  • OMG...my Mom was a philosopher and I never realized it till now......

one of her famous quotes.."Quit feeling sorry for yourself'...

yeah...she had all kinds of them.

  • Dear Aman,

Thank you very much for this. But although I agree with the message of this video, I do question your emphasis on neuro-psychology. After all, cognitive and behavioural psychology are just as important, if not more important.

Of course, we could easily get into the whole 'Redutionist' debate that I've been having since I was at University. But regardless of the mechanics, you are right when you say that we can choose to cling to what is familiar, or we can choose to grow :-)

  • @Ujames1978 I'm sorry I didn't comment earlier James, I read this a while ago, and of course, I appreciate what you've said =) I tend to lump cognitive and behavioral psychology together with neuropsychology...maybe b/c cog and behav psych were the emphasis at my university (minor in psych) I take it for granted! hahaha - I like how you sum things up "we can choose to cling to what is familiar, or we can choose to grow"

  • I use resistance training for years. I have to resist the urge to kill and maim people. But after years of resistance training I can walk down the street with a smile on my face because I know Gomer is a drunk, and Jane has a cheating husband that gave her AIDS. Yes resistance training has paid off and that control has taught me that you don't have to harm others; they will do that themselves.

  • Whoa.

  • lol he talks retarded

  • @SuperSpartan5595 how so?

  • Aman, this is why I subscribed to you. You're videos make me feel like i can be more than what I am right now. i have got to thank you for that. I tend to watch your videos from time to time to help me keep on track because your videos give me that motivation. I especially enjoyed this video. Thank you so much. (: i'm going to train myself to become who I really am :D

  • You were right last week, I did like this video - as well as the shortened time in between uploads! I think everyone can recognize some pattern of behavior after watching this video. That being said - I'm training my nerves towards the discipline of a daily Mandarin studying session.

  • Great video, so true about afraid of the unknown and resisting change... we have alot to work on ; ]

  • those flowers are dead

  • Keep in mind, you are not in a war with anyone but yourself. Take the time to find something interesting that you are constantly attracted to. I really like politics and science. You may like literature, mathematics...etc. Just embrace what you like and realize that it will only help to take these steps.

  • Very interesting video. I like that you give visual and easily understandable examples to back up your reasoning. Taking a positive step each day does have a lot of interpretations. Some people embrace it strongly, some people just do it so they can sleep at night, and others don't really do it at all. I think that people are humble within their own benefits. They'd rather not forge a stronger, healthier, more intelligent person out of themselves because it strains your body.

  • uh oh aman. i saw a spot for the "next week" video. is this a hint of consistency? hahaha i really hope so.

  • Ah, there is something called Focus NeuroRehab which actually uses the human brainwaves to gear towards more positive and focused thoughts. I know because I went to these sessions for about 6 months, and let me tell you that what Aman saying is completely true. After a while, your brain is geared toward positivity as well as being focused on school, work, or just life in general. Great vid, Aman! :D

  • You raise a good point. Our regular routine and what we find normal in life us like moving your hand. On one hand I wish it were also that easy to change ourselves but on the other if we didn't let our daily lives imprint us I don't think we could find out what kind of people we are.

  • You're a great inspirational speaker. Wow.

  • where did you get a neurology book?

and don't use fades, they look bad, stick with jump cuts... much better... just sayin' .

and it is very true what you said. I'm a positive person and coming to that much positivity was not easy. it was a true God thing getting their. Thanks for more challenging videos Aman. You do a good job. And I'm just saying that. You challenge people and that is how you have worked yourself out to be. Good Job!!!

  • See I like this one. Coming from a person who actually understands the brain, hearing another person who also understands it. It enriches me.

  • @IDiedForYou1776 nice! what kinds of things have you studied?

  • @AmanJohnK I don't study in the academic sense of the word but when something interests me I tend to retain it. Going to the hospital for almost a year due to my pops having grade 4 brain cancer I ended up reading a lot of the medical books they had and in some of them they said very similar to what you said, although not nearly as animated or friendly lol so I do have a basic understanding of how we are hardwired. Not an extremely studied version but more so than your average person I would say

  • you've got points... but I'm amazed at how you find a way to fit pushups into like every video lately. we get it - you're good at pushups.

  • @Benjy3634 thanks for the compliment =) ...but it was just the last two, and that was it...chest is actually my weak point, and the muscle group I like training the least...I mean, I could have done something else. but pushups are the easiest display of "fitness" in the matter of two seconds =P it fit the context of the last two videos PERFECTLY, this was about training, and the last one talked about the body.

  • yup thats why its alwyas hard to break a bad habit. hmm what about people who use logic and reasoning more than using emotion? I always try to look at what options come to mind before i do anything. and i have set principals which i dont break

  • @keyfloater96 have set principles is EXTREMELY important. A lot of people are wishy washy, but if you have a set principle you believe in, it makes you so much stronger and has worked for me VERY well. =) Awesome point.

  • @AlexianaFoxOfficial LOL - this has to be one of my favorite comments ever hahahaha thank you =P

  • Always enjoy watching your stuff :)

Should do one on talking to girls :D:D

  • @TheRumpledForeskinn =D LOLOL idk If I'm the best person to ask about that =P j/k - I just try to be genuine and treat girls right...you should check out my video with the lovely NicoleNightly - how to talk to girls. =)

  • Another good one Aman :p

    @TheRumpledForeskinn

Lol it's all Confidence man. Confidence is pretty much everything.

  • @Ryabear Thank you =)

  • I listen to 528 hz frequency music on my iPod and it works through the neurons of the central and then peripheral nervous system and it brings a vibrating tingling feeling to my fingers, toes, and other body parts. This magical frequency heals DNA, according to Dr. Lee Lorenzen, one of the world's top bio-geneticists.

  • @kroovyandcal interesting! I'd love to hear more! Music definitely effects our neurons, but thanks to you, I have a place to start looking into that connection! =)

  • @AmanJohnK They multiplied the 528 hz by 10 in order to get the number 5280. Then they made the mile the distance of 5280 feet. Hidden knowledge of the priesthood classes

  • You're right, we've wired ourselves to be this way. If I can commit sit-ups to muscle memory than I surely can commit positive thinking too. It's all in the biology. Thanks Aman!! You're a really motivational/inspirational person <3 :)

  • @bnrocks182 I like your comment! I'm so happy you saw my point - thank you for your kind words =)

  • haha nerds smoke weed and u wel get smart

  • @danielcazier I've never smoked weed =X

  • I like how smart you are, it's really attractive and not many men are like you.(:

  • @BlueEyedBeautyMakeup I really appreciate that!!!! =)

  • hahahah the voice is so pricelss of this dude,, but videos are decently entertaining,, better than sumone like fred or shaycral or sum shit

  • @DjStiv3 thank you

  • @AmanJohnK no prob thanks for the vids

  • reverse wigga?

  • @415Underdog I know, I'm hard to put in a box ...ladies seem to like it tho =)

  • @415Underdog

    lemme guess, white ladies?

  • awesome video!!!! positivity will get you through any situation and each difficult situation makes you a stronger person :)

  • @juliethegreat81 That's right! =D

  • Love the Harry Potter books in the background :P

  • @EA1088 it's a staple of my videos =)

  • Great video Aman! One issue: practicing too much in certain disciplines (such as drumming), causing the same neuro-firings too often cab fry that section of the brain, resulting in focal dystonia. This isn't to say that one shouldn't practice, just that one shouldn't practice for too long at one time.

This isn't to contradict your well illustrated point, it is just to offer an interesting bit of info :D

  • @Synsacrus what's up buddy =) Thanks for your comment, you're right hahaha I remember this one time I experienced overtraining from working out too much (or with not enough rest) my nervous system was fried!

  • it bugs me that he gets this little views when other unuseful channels get millions in an instant

  • @sk8LOLrockon I know, right! Well, I have to be consistent...and I'm going to Vidcon this late July...maybe when I'm there I'll meet people who will really like my stuff and want to promote me!?

  • Pure excellence!!! I love this video!!

  • @Xone7 I appreciate that =)

  • I really needed this video =D

    Thnx!

  • @GuidetteExpert You're very welcome! ^_^

  • i love how your so smart and back up everything you say even if your the only one that believes that (: i respect you for that

  • @xxbabybxx53 I'm basically a lion >:O hahaha (that's my lion face)

  • @Auslander999 hey =) - no, never heard it, but I share the same personality type (ENFP) with Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Will Smith, Dr. Seuss, Robin Williams, Osama Bin Laden, Martin Luther King Jr., Mark Twain, Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) and many many other people who are "good" at speaking/performing so it's not surprising to me that someone like Will would have similar thoughts =)

  • When are you doing another live broadcast ? :)

  • @Scared2LoseU yea, I want one of those ASAP!

  • @Scared2LoseU not quite sure =) you know my from blogTV? good times eh?

  • do to medical disabilities not everybody can make some of those things happen (i had that problem so i went and figured out a differnt way to do somethings) and this vid is ha bisky

  • @kazooga1234 thanks buddy =)

  • @AmanJohnK your welcome these are the vids that i prefer of yours they are well thought out and make sense

  • i couldn't have said it better myself, i have recently started thinking this way. This is one of those few things i can truly believe in and agree with. I'm sick and tired of people saying "I hate reading", "learning is for nerds", or "i cant do this i cant do that bcuz thats just the way i am"....smh people need to wake up and Live, Love, and Learn...there isn't nothing more beautiful and satisfying...so good job man.

  • @pantherman3 I love your comment, was just having a conversation with my friend about how true everything you said is and how it helps us live longer =)

  • I'm enjoying the little bits of HUMOR you're putting in. Oh & I Love you.

  • @11Firat58 little positive changes really add up!

  • @ORiGiNaLKW1 I'm running for president in 2024

  • Nice flowers :)

  • @Enginold They're dead =( but they're from my mom for graduation =)

  • Your first harry potter book is not a hard back like the rest...now im pissed.

  • @Jerbear767 I know, right! what am I thinking?! lol - actually, I got the first book from a book fair WAAAY back in the day, I read it before my twin sister, but she's the one who turned into a HUGE diehard harry potter fan!

  • Powerful!

  • @keemysoodreamy23 thank you =)

  • you always seem to send out a good message. and i like you for that.

  • @Ziffelzoovop I like you for being able to appreciate what I do! =)

  • I will always love your videos. You always know what to say. I am glad I am subscribed to you.

Also, did your voice get deeper?

  • @ThePuzzlesPieced =D thank you! And no, my voice didn't get deeper, I'm just getting better at speaking to the camera while not speaking too fast and sort of ..out of breath =) My voice naturally carries

  • I like the idea of positive thinking training.

  • Loved this. Very inspirational :-)

  • @Flyygirl07 Thank you, I appreciate that =)

  • Ok lets get married now.

  • @ilovepri I am single ;)

  • LOL no seriously this is exactly what I needed amidst all this studying and controlling my urges, improving my work ethics and taking CONTROL! ;) (pun intended). Its all in the mind like you said, we can mould who we want to be if we have the will power to take control of our mind and not the other way round.

  • The day i become Empero of humans, i will thank you for your advice :)

  • @LORDNAG1 You're going to rule the world?! =O

  • @AmanJohnK or die trying :)

  • I really am attracted to Aman.
