I recently got an Asus G53SX. Very happy with it, and it has better specs than this laptop. The only 'downside' is the screen is 15" on my laptop. But my GPU is better (560GTX). Also mine was $1200, vs the $2800. I agree that the Razer laptop is definitely overpriced for what you get. It looks awesome, but I don't know that the looks are worth that much more. This coming from a Razer fan, too.
@SHiZiN69ONU Its true dude, the reason i got in cheap is because the place i bougth it from had a sale i dont know how to say in english, but its when like the things no one has bought gets sold and i bought this computer for 30% off the prize it usually was
this is my first and last ever alienware i think the quality in build is what does it but we won't know until some expert gets his hands on it and examines it.
i was guessing 2200 some where there but damn that's really expensive and u r pros and cons on this laptop are pretty right overheating and using a mouse is really important :)
Amazing specs, not so amazing price. Honestly for that amount of money I could buy tickets to the Alabama Rodeo, ride a mechanical bull, start a guitar making business and make a custom computer. Once Razer figures this out and lowers their price on this laptop I could consider buying it. Thanks Zybak for the commentary and the truth!
@legendp2011 lol except the thing is that..... you can get the same thing in a pc laptop for $1500.... its kinda sad that mac is extremely overpriced for no good reason at all... Lol
the battery life is good in a mac (about 3x the average) thats why you pay so much (something wich HP and dell are still lacking in). If I didn't need the battery life I would have happily bought an envy or pavilion. unfortunately most laptops still have optical drives (No idea why), if they removed that they could have a lot more battery life (if this laptop removed the optical drive and doubled the battery life I might actually consider it). you can make ISO backups of your disk
@legendp2011 hey, can I ask you a question? Where do you get your facts? Lol... You can find pc laptops that have 9 hours battery life as well nowadays. You can get the exact same hardware a mac has for $1500 less and mac has no fkin bluray and no hdmi or vga plug. I beg you.... please... please do some research before you talk... thanks.
please name these laptops with 9 hours of battery life and a 6770m+core i7 or equivalent card (specs) rather than just making them up (thats at max brightness on a MBP). so why don't you list some if there so obvious (please and I will happily agree). not just good battery life, not just good performance but both and if there is does it come with an anti-glare screen because I am no fan of glossy screens. the high brightness and good contrast is good on the MBP (Notebookcheck).
you can get the macbook pro 15inch with 6770m for the same price (with antiglare screen) and it's about the same speed (and with the 15inch 1680x1050 screen you will probably get higher frame rates). the difference is that the mac has 7.5+ hours maxed brightness of battery and the ability to use either windows or OSX vs 6 hours and windows only (or I suppose there is always linux). yes they are both pricey.
@97ringostarr How is it amazing specs? The 14" Alienware M14x and 13" LG P330 have the same specs at half the size and half the cost and half the weight. Not to mention using near obsolete mid-grade CPU and GPU that will be replaced by Ivy Bridge and Kepler in a couple months.
@Ggalacticos Alienware if you want top performance for money, the razerblade if you want it to look like a black macbook and have no complaints about the 3k price tag and macbook if you wanna throw your money in the toilet on a machine that will get shit graphics, also about 3k
Alienware is the best lookin Gaming Laptop ... the rest provide good features... but the key pad placement and the general appeal is quite minimal ...coz in the end wen some1 is gonna spend bout 2 grand on a laptop... u wud want some "WOW" factor
@grimmy188 Nothing can beat alienware. But u pay like 400$ just for the brand, and its allmost to good. No one needs comp that good :P but if i had the money i would totally buy one.
@Thesarcasist why not? sorry im just gettng into computer gaming and im looking for the best computer. I've been looking alot at alienware and finding alot of great reviews and then people like you saying they suck. Why?
@TheWhiteboy6661 Not that alienware computers are bad in general, it's just that they're overpriced as hell. Literally, 2x to 3x the price of something you can build yourself.
@PerfectBlade20 honestly alienware computers are overpriced as well, but they are basically like out of the box modded laptops (so the pricing can somewhat justified), you can get a much better value in Asus and MSI laptops if you don't care as much about flashy lights.
I don't have a clue what patch you played wow on but for 1200 bucks, you sure as fuck never got a gaming laptop that played wow 3.8 and above with ultra settings and fraps on 60fps running a total gameplay 60 fps. Right there I stopped listening to this "review"
@XxNinjaPr0zxX Oh .. well .. you wont buy it xD.. I would never pay for this kind of toy more than normal pc, 700-800 dollars decent pc... this is hilarious 2700, I have to sell my whole family xD
if there was one reason to get this crap it would be how its actually portable, unlike almost any gaming laptop with those specs, but still over priced no matter what.
@CragScrambler Lol not the name, because its basically the only gameing laptop with a 17" screen that is uber thing, basically like a macbook air that can game.
I have an acer aspire timelinex 3830tg that cost me 700 bucks, it has an i5 processor ( good enough for gaming) and an nvidia geforce gt540m which is almost as good as the gt555m. it runs all game on high setting at 30+ fps so there is really no need for anything more
$2800 is absolutely brutal. You could get an Alienware M17X - basically this but with better specs - for LESS money. But I bet part of that enormous price tag is the brutal pricing on SSD's.
@AkiraSieghart No you can get yourself an M17X with double the ram and a quad core i7 and save yourself a good $500. But I think you MIGHT have to deal with an AMD graphics card in stead for that price.
it is overpriced, dont get me wrong, and I wont be buying one because I prefer desktops, but if you are someone that travels a lot but really wants a gaming laptop, this thing is far thinner and far lighter than any other gaming laptop offering. I hate mac's too, but they are light and very portable.
How can Razer say something 17" and SEVEN POUNDS is truely portable with a straight face?
A SMALLER and LIGHTER 6 pound 15" Sager NP series spec'd with a Quad i7 and GTX 560M (Blade is only dual core and GT 555M) for $1100.
I'm was looking forward to the Blade up until they released the specs. I'm not paying two and half times as much for something that has its only claim to fame being its portability when it's still LARGER AND HEAVIER with significantly worse performance.
The fancy buttons above the touch pad on the right hand side is not the only reason why it's $2,800. It's the thinnest, and lightest "gaming" laptop. It's 2x thinner, and 2x lighter than the majority of gaming laptops. Mobility = money, and I wouldn't say it's overpriced. Instead, I'd just say your paying a "premium" to have the thinnest and lightest laptop with that specific hardware. It's no different than buying a video game during the first couple months while it's still $60.
Man you are wrong it is costly and a alienware can easily beat it but have you seen the size of a alienware it is almost double the size of this laptop making this laptop a very portable one
theire are reasons you should not buy it but looking at its size its totally reasonable priced
my rig:water cooling,16 ram, gtx 590, Asus Sabertooth P67 intel core i7 2600k overclocked. around 2800$ but wait!!!.... i live in Denmark "very expensive country :/"
@RedEggsCereal yeah but lenovo are thick and encumbering as hell...which is the point of this model, to ensure portability and great performance at the same time (along with a nicely sized screen)
that is very subjective, people can ultra BF3 at 720p but you may have a 1080p screen and can run it high settings at most, WHO is benefiting more? lol I'm so confused with laptop gaming .. I only play my indie games there.
@hungree7 they should be advertising its performance by using the settings native to the computer, like its screen is a native res 1080p, the GT555m is where they shortcut their product, it does not have the capability to play many games in 1080p ultra settings, and BF3 is very demanding
sweet lappy.. but 2800bucks is nonsense.. if it was cheaper it would make sense.. or at least hook up a bigger hdd on it.. but considering the trackpad.. i was thinking of combining the blade w/ an orochi bluetooth mouse and switching the trackpad to information display-mode.. then that would be useful.. battery-wise? who d fuck plays on battery anyways..
asus released an N55SF series with the same spec for around 1200.. without the fancy trackpad & glowing keyboard ofcourse..
I think you goofed up. You just called a preview and "random musings" a "review" - You cannot talk about the battery life, noise or build until you actually you know, review it!
for the people that are complaining about the laptop I see it this way, there's laptops that are twice as powerful for the price, but they are more of a lan party kind of laptop. This is more of a "on the go laptop". Though yes, the price is really steap...but at the end It's how much you're willing to spend.
razer blade and razer switch blade are completely 2 different products, switch blade is more of a portable handheld device, than a computer, but the blade is obviously a laptop, but I consider the switch a miniature laptop :).
Oh come on...Why MacBook Air is expensive compare to its spec? Coz of its very very high "Portability". Why Alienware is expensive? coz of its very very high "Performace" When you combine them togather, i have no doubt of its $2800 cost. Also, I dont think that high price is bcoz of that "Switch Blade". Lastly, what does "Laptop" mean anyway, for my pref, it doesn't mean Alieanware......Don't be too ignorance.....
screw gaming I want that machine for Cad word. That touchpad and those hot buttons would be perfect. I am tired of lugging a boat anchor around to do such work
I would make it a 15" get rid of the track pad, mouse included in the package, 720p resolution with the same specs and design. I'm sure the price would be cheaper and I would buy that.
it's a bit unfair to say that the trackpad will be completely usless since it can be used even with a mouse plugged in as an alternate screen...you can run apps such as media player on it, or even a tutorial on youtube of the actual game you're playing...and i'm sure there are a lot of other programs that can be integrated with it but those are two i'm sure of...
This is just when a new style of TV comes out. The price is going to start out high 2800$, and people will buy it, but a 6 months to a year after it comes out, im sure it will be around a reasonable price of 1400$.
2800? FUCK THAT SHIT!

@ZybakTV the Razer Blade and the Razer Switchblade are 2 different products, they didnt rename anything
RedEggsCereal 2 months ago
you could get those same specs in a lenovo for 900 bucks... and that gt 555m cant really run much at max settings
RedEggsCereal 2 months ago
@RedEggsCereal yeah but lenovo are thick and encumbering as hell...which is the point of this model, to ensure portability and great performance at the same time (along with a nicely sized screen)
janinz89 2 months ago
@janinz89 no, they said its the worlds first true gaming laptop, if it cant play bf3 on ultra DX11 like my 1400$ laptop, then they should die
krackerjacx 2 months ago
@krackerjacx
that is very subjective, people can ultra BF3 at 720p but you may have a 1080p screen and can run it high settings at most, WHO is benefiting more? lol I'm so confused with laptop gaming .. I only play my indie games there.
hungree7 2 months ago
@hungree7 they should be advertising its performance by using the settings native to the computer, like its screen is a native res 1080p, the GT555m is where they shortcut their product, it does not have the capability to play many games in 1080p ultra settings, and BF3 is very demanding

sweet lappy.. but 2800bucks is nonsense.. if it was cheaper it would make sense.. or at least hook up a bigger hdd on it.. but considering the trackpad.. i was thinking of combining the blade w/ an orochi bluetooth mouse and switching the trackpad to information display-mode.. then that would be useful.. battery-wise? who d fuck plays on battery anyways..
asus released an N55SF series with the same spec for around 1200.. without the fancy trackpad & glowing keyboard ofcourse..
ahtmly2k 2 months ago
when does it come out ? also i think it should be $2000

Playing BF3 ultra graphis
ChuckyTheCracky 2 months ago
I think you goofed up. You just called a preview and "random musings" a "review" - You cannot talk about the battery life, noise or build until you actually you know, review it!
Zonbie 3 months ago
Zybak, you are retarded. The Razer 'Switchblade' is their hand held computer, the Razer 'Blade' is their full sized version.
slevig415 3 months ago
-dual core
-8GB RAM
-geforce GT555M
-320GB HDD
all for $2800
you'd better off getting alienware/MSI gaming laptop than getting this 'macbook pro'
SpadeAce90 3 months ago
@SpadeAce90 i7's are quad core?
djfrshkid92vk 3 months ago
@djfrshkid92vk it depends, i got a i7 dual core
YeahCarlos277 3 months ago
@SpadeAce90 Alienware is almost more overpriced than this, if u are buying a "gaming" laptop u go for a ASUS gamnig laptop
YeahCarlos277 3 months ago
The design is perfect, well everything is perfect but the price and only two cores is just a joke!
PrOdiGyViisto 3 months ago
2800 dollars? That price is.. is.. it's not worth it! U can get quad core with better specs for 1700dollars, it's Alienware.
PrOdiGyViisto 3 months ago
for the people that are complaining about the laptop I see it this way, there's laptops that are twice as powerful for the price, but they are more of a lan party kind of laptop. This is more of a "on the go laptop". Though yes, the price is really steap...but at the end It's how much you're willing to spend.
chino555 3 months ago
its actually gonna be 6-7 hours on a full charge
jofirih7800 3 months ago
i think it'll be 2,799 MSRP
jofirih7800 3 months ago
I think it is expensive because of the small size and weight for such a powerful notebook, and of course, it is cool too!
Savicava 3 months ago
HOLY SHIT $2800!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW your logo looks like one of those things where you have to type what that picture/scribble says (captcha thing)

JOEWAGH 3 months ago
the razer switchblade is a min laptop version of the blade
JOEWAGH 3 months ago
razer blade and razer switch blade are completely 2 different products, switch blade is more of a portable handheld device, than a computer, but the blade is obviously a laptop, but I consider the switch a miniature laptop :).
Muki13 3 months ago
meh about $1500 ........ OMFG RAZER WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME 2800 FUCKING DOLLARS!!!
xxxN1nJa5k1LZxxx 3 months ago
Oh come on...Why MacBook Air is expensive compare to its spec? Coz of its very very high "Portability". Why Alienware is expensive? coz of its very very high "Performace" When you combine them togather, i have no doubt of its $2800 cost. Also, I dont think that high price is bcoz of that "Switch Blade". Lastly, what does "Laptop" mean anyway, for my pref, it doesn't mean Alieanware......Don't be too ignorance.....

screw gaming I want that machine for Cad word. That touchpad and those hot buttons would be perfect. I am tired of lugging a boat anchor around to do such work
gruntboy50 4 months ago
I would make it a 15" get rid of the track pad, mouse included in the package, 720p resolution with the same specs and design. I'm sure the price would be cheaper and I would buy that.
ARRL92 4 months ago
Until now I said fuck alienware this is thin and new, but now; hellooooo alienware!
JaoquinQ 4 months ago
it's a bit unfair to say that the trackpad will be completely usless since it can be used even with a mouse plugged in as an alternate screen...you can run apps such as media player on it, or even a tutorial on youtube of the actual game you're playing...and i'm sure there are a lot of other programs that can be integrated with it but those are two i'm sure of...
janinz89 4 months ago 10
@janinz89 I hope it can be like a second screen when you skype some guy while playing
apersonwhoisamember 2 months ago
@apersonwhoisamember makes sense! i guess it could be intergrated that way - doesn't seem impossible with today's software :)
janinz89 2 months ago
This is just when a new style of TV comes out. The price is going to start out high 2800$, and people will buy it, but a 6 months to a year after it comes out, im sure it will be around a reasonable price of 1400$.
aDaltonz 4 months ago
in england it will be cheaper
