  • I expect higher resolution as my dell one has 1600 x 1200, so if this one offers 1920 x 1080 I will appreciate it but the price will jump high. Well as everything top line is expensive...Why not for future in the next iPhone(s) 3d same res though in my mind now is holographic video & this must be a step beyond 3d methinks. 3d without glasses, blood pressure meter, ipad dj...thumbs up

  • what, no lenses and no need to focus!!! thats crazy

  • это ваааааааааащее пиздеееец!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...вот.!!!!

  • my dad makes chips for these

i might get one next year:)

  • Texas Instruments, 3M or Microvision?

    one of them will win

  • "Help me Obi Wan Kanobi your my only hope".

  • nice

  • Where the hell are these? It's nearly 2011

  • @byteusa look up "SHOWWX Laser Pico Projector" derrrrrrrrrrr

  • I love it!!! Just got my new L1 from AAXA Technologies..this thing is bad ASS! Built in speaker, built in video player, built in flash, and its operating system allows me to seamlessly display power point and pdf files among others...and the best part...it has twice the lumens rating of the showwx...L1 kicks Microvision's butt!!!

  • Yip!!!!! Bult-in cellphone Sounds Good to me =) Hehe Awesome man I want it! ANd how cool its You can finally lie down on your back and watch a movie on a ceiling! Yay!!!

  • the name mircovison has been copywrited

  • thats a nice <3 <3 <3

  • Starting this week, you can buy a ShowWX for $549 directly from microvision(dot)com. The availability of high-performance green lasers is responsible for the "high" price but the quality is so much better than competing technology that it's worth it.

Green lasers will be ubiquitous around the end of the year or early 2011. That's when Microvision's picop (about the size of your thumb) will make its way into cell phones and other devices with a price premium in the $80-150 range.

    Awesome.

  • @robvh2 my only question is do you have to buy bulb/replacement lasers for it like you do with standard projectors costing $200 a pop?

  • @yuppybarf No. The lasers are similar to what you'd find in a CD or DVD player. You don't replace them. I don't have the exact life expectancy figures but it'll most likely outlast you the way a typical TV would (versus a typical projector).

  • @robvh2 nice

  • are you kidding me? price is $999.00 whit that price i can get a better projector

  • @3LD3VIL have you ever heard of the word "portability"? or are you just being dense on purpose (btw if you wanna see a use for this check out sixth sense technology, just search for it on here

  • @kght222 Im not looking for portability im not going to pay $999 just because is small if im looking for $1000 dlls projector i prefere top quality projector (big screen resolution)

  • to me this is a reasonable sibstitute for screens. shit on iPod or the like. This is the end of the screen age folks. meaning TV sets, laptops, desktops will be different from now on.

  • the laser technology in these are really impressive, super small single step DPSS green lasers, and I'm guessing blue diode lasers (thousands of dollars per diode unless ordered in bulk.

  • meanwhile blue lasers costs the same as green and red ones, a new technique allows to produce blue lasers at a very low price.

  • what? No.... blue lasers are by far the most expensive per mW, followed by green, followed by red, followed by violet. However, the latest diode technology MAY, in the next few years, decrease the cost gap between all the different colors by making them easily mass-producible.

  • This is already a feature on a Android phone from Samsung which also has a 8MP camera with flash and superAMOLED display . Apple is busy releasing brakthrough technology like the iPad

  • i would not be surprised if this was in one of the next iPhones.

  • I think this is all hype. I signed up with the website for their VIP program and have been ignored ever since.

  • Google should take and put in to nexus one this thing

  • projector ipods are next

  • thats silly what about projector IPHONES11

  • I always knew this gadget will eventually become a reality.

    I going to buy one.

  • Our choices are optoma Pico projectors for 200, or eyeclops projectors for 40 bucks on amazon

  • @johnmonk66 Is that a joke? eyeclops projectors are just toy projectors with terrible resolution. Have you read any of the reviews on them?

Besides, $200 really isn't that much for such a small projector.

  • Anyone tried a powerpoint with one of these?

  • I bet Alexander Tokman can do a killer Christopher Walken impression.

  • 848x480 is the 480p widescreen aspect ratio resolution.

    Same as 1280x720 or 1920x1080.

  • Not quite. 848x480 is just a smidge different aspect ratio than 1280x720 or 1920x1080. 848x480 is 1.76:1 whereas 1280x720 and 1920x1080 is 1.77:1. This means that the Mircovision image is going to be ever so slightly more square. I don't know the technical reason why they went with 848x480 when 849x480 or 850x480 is closer to a 1.77:1 aspect ratio.

  • Maybe they came up with that wierd aspect ratio so they could have a 1:1 trow ratio or is that un related?

  • 16:9 widescreen HDTV is 1.77:1 (16 divided by 9) and a 1920x1080 tv or computer screen is 1.77:1 (or 16:9). Funny in that film techs like to say 1.77 or 1:33 (to 1) and tv/video techs like to say 16:9 or 4:3 (the aspect ratios for HDTV and SDTV).

  • nice but weird resolution

    i mean why not 1024x768

    or 800x600?

  • its "SDTV" aka regular TV resolution

  • they could make high powered ones of these for rear project without blinding anyone

  • Nice video!.

  • how much?

  • i remember watching this!

  • they have this in korean...cellphone projector..

  • Is it micro vision in Korea as well or is it a different company?

  • those lines are there because they didn't turn down the shutter speed of their camera

  • This is what? One year and a half old? If the demonstration was that advanced at that time and the product still haven't seem the light of day there's something really fish about this story...

  • There's probably a ton of litigation, red tape, patent claims and jockeying for position on this one! It will be/do BIG, BIG business - as it will be a future technology in all cell phones. It is also the first step towards devices that will project holograms.

  • Wow, the first useful invention i have seen in a long time. Make this higher resolution, and higher refresh and you could even use it for a main display. This would be wonderful for 3d displays also at very high refresh rates using multiple emitters. Good invention!

  • Wow. How old is Jean Enersen now? She must be like 60.

  • no it;s 250

  • OH....sorry....i meant 1600 RS.....sorry

  • Sorry for the thumbs down, but the post needs to be hidden so people don't get confused. :D

  • @scaryharry6

    BUT WILL IT BLEND?>????

  • someone tell me where to buy this laser projector?

  • Lasers, even very efficient LED lasers, still use alot more power then regular LED's for the same amount of light. I think there's a good reason we've never seen this device demonstrated for more then 30 seconds, it's battery life must be remarkably bad. Unless they build these into wall-outlet based projectors, there's no way current battery tech can supply power for portable laser projectors.

  • so fucking cool

  • Outstanding

  • I hate it too much radiation on it. sucks..

  • i want this shit

  • why do people say that it should be out because it's been a year...... they said at least a year, feel free to watch it again and check

they also have to get electronics companies to start using the embedded projector in their devices

just chill out, and wait until they are finished developing the projector so it doesn't end up to be a piece of shit

  • they said in a year.... and this video was posted in jan. 2008.... it's been a year and I DONT FUCKING SEE IT!!!!

    lol...

  • it said in at least a year so worry it will come

  • You son't see it because you not looking around. They are on sell right now and they had been on sell for almost 2 months. Go to amazon and search for Pico Projector.

  • Comment removed

  • you can buy a pico projector but it is not a lazer pico projector.

  • They arn't selling Laser based Pico projectors, only LED based ones. If you don't know the difference between an LED and a Laser LED, you should learn.

  • guess ill wait to get a new tv...those are sweet

  • Neat! I'd love to have one...

  • did i hear HD!!!

  • Cool, I want one!

  • hey is this going to come out soon its been a year xD

  • The only problem I can foresee is having it built into an iPod/iPhone and gaming with them, if they're built in.

I'm as excited as anyone to not have a TV in my house and get rid of my laptop because my iPod/iPhone/Blackberry has all the capabilities, memory, and hardware required to manage every day life.

BUT soon enough you'll be gaming with your friends on portables that project on a wall but when you steer the device the screen goes with it. Obviously if it's not built in things change..

  • grabovsky welcome to the 21st century. try banginging rocks instead of writeing to te tube.

  • you don't know how much it costs. it would be cheaper than a screen if it became mainstream in cell phones.

  • Try to listen for a change you dumb fuck. They said 60$ for a built in device and around 200$ for a standalone. Try to buy a HD-TV for that you numbnut... Jeezzz

  • damn!! built into a cell phone would be bad ass

  • were can i get one!!!!!! i WANT IT!!!!!!!!!

  • Of course you don't need a fancy screen. It looks perfect on that guy's shirt! Just stay still dude.

  • Microvisions PicoP display engine is based on a MEMS single scanning mirror designed to scan in both horizontal and vertical directions so that a single beam of light can be precisely steered delivering very good image quality. Additionally, PicoP does not require any projection lenses and is therefore focus-free at any distance. The SHOW is able to produce an image between 12 and 100 inches, diagonally. The MICROVISION SHOW is expected to sell between $200 and $300.

  • @latta65

are led or laser projectors9cheap one0 good for fps online pc gaming?

    do they lag/

is the refres rate a problem?

  • Laser projectors would probably be a good way to reduce the amount of piracy in theaters. Also I got my mini projector already but its from 3M and uses LEDs but it looks pretty good. I have a video of it up if you are interested in looking at it.

  • its really cool, ill buy it right now.

  • I have a feeling it's going to be expensive

  • Microvision has already begun mass producing the SHOW and is expecting to release early in the spring of 2009.

  • I want one!

  • The "final" prototypes will be delivered to customers in the 4th quarter but the prototypes going out now are not the same as we saw in January.

These enhanced units contain next generation green lasers that are built on the same platform expected to be used for commercial production in 2009, and a smaller PicoP display engine that is thinner and brighter than one used in the SHOW(TM) prototypes introduced in the first half of 2008.

  • Wow, this is going to rock the media industry. Imagine the applications for this when this is embedded into your cellphone. Bussiness presentations, personal videos, pictures; can see your cell phone display! Project it. There will probably be a huge market for this. The stock is around $2.00. Imagine this stock when this goes into production. I am not a stock expert, but to me, this is a no brainer.

  • How big is the projection from 7ft.?

  • How much money does it cost?

  • its around $300 to $200 i think its awesome since its affordable....Future here i come

  • Meh. My opinion: iPods are for listening to music. If your gonna show your friends something, or are at a conference. Then the conference room probably has a projector or you can just show it on your computer. Cool thing and it WILL be in every cell phone within 3 years like the camera. But I certanly would NOT like it. And to diymania Put an endo to LCD and Plasma?? NO! Not until this thing goes full HD. And it's so pointless. I can't connect it to my xbox or something, I'll just stick to my TV

  • AND what's the battery life on that thing? 2 maybe 2 and a half hours?

  • The info says 2.5 hours. I'm pretty sure that's 2.5 hours of projection, not just having the device on not projecting.

  • Psst... I've seen it, you can connect your xbox. Indeed when I saw it, it was with a 360 & Halo 3.

  • cool!

  • Wow That will surely put an end to lcd and dlp projectors and sucky lcd/plasma tv´s.

For 200 bucks its surely worth every penny, no lenses, no need to focus, no expensive screen, no noisy fans. I want one and i want one now!

  • This would be cool if they build it into one of those mp4 watches

  • I have seen the future. 80-inch hi-def screen in your pocket? Wow.

  • does anyone know the dimensions of the thing on that guys finger?

  • Nice though it is I'd never buy something like that as I cant imagine using it much.

HOWEVER... if it came built into my pocket PC smartphone I'd be over the moon! Come on phone builders get it integrated.

  • definitely, wow

  • Now _this_ is what I call an innovation -

a very useful product with so many uses,

    especially for gaming and recreation.

This could theoretically replace a standard

TV set as the "viewing device", and save a major amount of space and electricity at the

same time. That's Thinking Green, my friends!

I will definitely want one of these, too.

Let's hope the price is reasonable. :)

  • How do they get a green lasers?

  • now if they put that in my iphone! that would be awesome.

  • Finally there moving towards getting rid of those dinasuar projects that run hot, make noise, and have super expensive replacement bulbs. I can see getting one of these as a nice secondary monitor for my laptop while I'm away from home.

  • Nice!

  • Amazing!

  • Would it also work with my ipod Touch ??!! Isnt it an ipod touch in the video ?

  • Definatly will be getting one!

  • Should I put my address here so somebody can send me one?

    I need this!

  • yes sir.
