In a recent episode they sung the Caprica song to grieve for the adama family's lost ones. Is that a song a I can download or buy somewhere? They put words to it, it was sick! Anyone know, thanks in advance!
Oh thank you so much for uploading this, I have to admit this sent shivers through my soul, I can see the future William "Husker" Adama when this played. Just wish it was a full track of that song instead of just a few bars, oh well I'm sure it will be pl;ayed again soon. :)
No Adama is 70 in daybreak.Plus the colonials had more advanced technology then we do so a 70 year old may be the equivalent of a 60 year old on Earth.
Actually, since he's 11 here, and this is 58 years before The Fall of the Twelve Colonies, and Daybreak takes place four years after that, he's 73 in Daybreak. ...Dear God, I'm anal retentive.
Exactly. I think EJO was probably 56 or 57 but even if they wanted to throw five years on to his age to make him 63 during the miniseries, he wouldn't be 58 + 12 to 14 which is what the kid playing him looks like. That's 70 - 72 SAUL TIGH I think is closer to 65-70, but not Eddie
Hang on, I'll check. ...Olmos is a baby boomer, born February 27, 1947. So at the time of the filming of "Daybreak," he was around 62 even. It's feasible he could look like that at 73, even without magic anti-aging technology. Some people age better than others. My mother is 61, but could easily pass for 40 (and could have passed for 25 when she was 40). Interestingly, I can't find a birthdate for Michael Hogan (Tigh), but I would think he's around the same age.
I honestly believe Hogan has a good 7 -10 years on Olmos. You can see by Eddie's musculature around his biceps and his chest that he's not 73. Skin gets looser at that age too. I think it's absolutely crazy that they would expect us to think Adama was 70-74. Just crazy. When I was 35 I looked 25. As you age more years catch up. It's harder for someone 72 to look 10 years younger. I think it's just really silly of them to make it 58 and not say 48 years ago! Just my 2 cents!
They kind of painted themselves into a corner with that one. They had already said the first war ended 40 years before The Fall, and that it had been 12 years long. So they were already stuck with 52 years between the beginning of the First Cylon War and The Fall. They tacked on, I think, the bare minimum they could get away with for the Cylons to be created and go rampant. Six years.
@Darthfastidious - Ah I see. Thanks for that bit of information. In my opinion, the way to solve it would have been to make Adama a baby then because the kid playing him is terrible, no doubt directed to be as nondescript as possible so as not to taint the legend of Bill Adama one way or the other. I think it was a mistake trying to lure BSG viewers in by making Adama old enough to partake in the show and then making him basically a confused, sulky, detached and undynamic character.
Continuing my thought - They seem to direct this young actor to have no reactions to anything. If you watch him he has the same face in almost every scene no matter what is transpiring. He just seems like a blank slate or like he's constantly confused. Even when he's sort of happy with his uncle Sam his reactions barely register. It's bizarre. I wonder if Lil' Laura will show up kicking ass and taking names in the school yard all fiery red hair and freckles or would she just sit in a corner?LOL
And hey, it's not like he's a total waste of a character. Remember when he beaned that asshole with the rock and then beat the crap out of him? That's the William Adama that we all know and love.
@SuperSaiyanAl Maybe I'm dense but I don't see anything in young Willy that ties back to Adama in the slightest. Even beaning that kid with a rock (while very cool) didn't make me think 'oh that's Bill Adama'. I really wish I 'got it' more with this character but I just don't and I think it's a travesty that they are messing with my favorite character. If Caprica is supposed to be able to stand on it's own why do they need a young William Adama in the show?
Well, in that case, why do they need a Cylon if the show's going to stand on its own? Besides which, there's a fifty-plus year gap between now and the miniseries. The Adama we see then and the Willy we see now are basically two different characters, so having them act so differently makes sense in context.
@SuperSaiyanAl Comparing the show's need to bring Willy Adama in as an unrecognizable comparison to the Adama we know now and having Cylons on is pretty silly don't you think? I mean should I even be answering that question. Futhermore, I'm not 65 but I'm VERY much the same person now (in my 40's) that I was when I was 12. The basics are very much there and still the same.
@DarthFastidious Very True My Father is 62 and Strong as an Oak Like Admiral Adama; he still works out every morning.theres like a signature on these Old men, they're just ''the Strong'' ones you know.
Seems like Bear may yet get into using lietmotifs on Caprica. Thankfully, since although I like the main Caprica theme, I really don't want it to be redone for every musical cue.
He said on his blog that he did a lot of character themes for BSG, but was planning more on using general concepts (like one for each family) in Caprica. Which is great, but you got the two families themes, and would hear them endlessly. Which would get sort of boring. Character themes and interactions between them are great.
But he seems poised to have a similar evolution as on BSG. So I'm expecting we will get all kinds of interesting stuff out of Caprica.
Great to hear this track in Caprica it stands for Adama Admiral of the Fleet Of Galactica and Pegasus, it is a proud family name and it is nice to hear it in this the prequel. Great job Bear.
@Ghats212 of course, thats exactly what I mean. SPOILER---------------------------"Willie" Adama was hugged and told to honor his name when this song was played. The fact that he would die before getting to do that is sad. It makes "Bill" Adama (BSG Adama) that much more tragic.
and yet, he didnt become who we thought he would. that makes it that much sadder

The best part about this track is the motif from Wander, My Friends at the end. God bless you, Bear McCreary.

@SuperSaiyanAl I know, and it's by far the most beautiful version of it, which is why it's unfortunate that its only a few seconds long.
antred11 1 year ago
No, I disagree; the rendition at the start of "The Heart of the Sun" is the most beautiful version of it.
Come to think of it, this version fits pretty well with that one.

how can adama be 11 in this show? if it's 58 years before bsg? that would make adama 69 LOL or is 50 years?

When it said 58 years I was surprised. I figured William Adama was 58 at most when the series began.
