Girl OMG....I am trying to re-root one of my tonner dolls, anyway his head is really hard and the hole are very small....I thing it could have been done by a machine....Do you have any tips for me, or do you no where I can get thin yet srong needles?
@missparisnite heya - Tonner dolls are a notorious pain in the behind to reroot!!
The main advice is to keep the head warm whilst you reroot - heating the head will soften the vinyl making it easier to work with and lessens the risk of splitting the holes. It can be done but is difficult which is why most people tend to opt for wigs for Tonners LOL
How do u take of the head to put on a body that has got better working legs mine are so loose they fall down if u try and put them up ? :( plz help if u know a way of doing it without breaking the doll ?
My monster high doll has dodgy legs , that just fall down when u try and pose her leg up they just fall bak down and don't stay in place wud it be easier to remove the head and put it on another same doll with better legs , they seem badly made :( the one I'm changing has bald patches and the other has loose limbs , plz help coz I don't know how to take of the head without breaking it if there made like bratz ?
@Megantan8 its totally up to you, experiment and find out what works best for you - I personally like to do the part line and thatching first, then work from the top down but you can start at the bottom if you prefer! There is no right or wrong way to start a reroot :)
@Megantan8 hiya - it is not me who runs the site anymore as I sold it back in July but I shall let Elise (the new owner) know that your order arrived safely! xx
@Megantan8 it might do, however, it is an easy fix. You can style it afterwards using water :) Smooth the hair down and give it a blast of hot water, followed by a blast of cold to set it and then leave to air dry overnight. (I hope that makes sense! )

Ah, this is brilliant. I'd been dreading the process, thinking it would be daunting. But I've seen 2 tutorials now (yours being the second), and they were essentially the same - knot method. Very simple, very easy, and very logical. The fact it's a slow process is a moot point, as I have no intention of rushing through my custom figure. Thanks for the video.
Hey i love your videos!! they were very helpfull. i cant wait to try this out for myself. But i have a question. i have a Bratz doll i want to reroot and i already cut her hair and everything but the hole at the bottom of her head is rather small and its hard to pull all the hair plugs out. any tips you can help me with bigger heads and smaller holes? thanks in advance!
Well, it does help to heat up the head to soften it. Bratz have reeaaally hard heads. So it would definitely help to let them soak in some near boiling water before pulling all the hair plugs out.
I've seen yarn being used instead of kanekalon for rerooting doll hair. It makes some really funky looking dreads. But I wonder if it's more difficult than using kanekalon.
@earthentitymp a regular large eyed needle would work absolutely fine! The special doll needles are great as they are long - perfect for akward long necks or hard to reach places but there is no need to buy some if you find a sewing needle works just as well :) I hope that helps! x
@AbbyTheZombie you can use real hair yes! It can be a little tricky to work with as it is much more brittle than synthetic hair but I have seen some beautiful human hair reroots in the past :) With hard headed dolls, you can warm them with a hair dryer or use hot water to soften the vinyl a little so it is easier to work on.
Is it possible to re root a monster high doll? About how long does it take if I take my time? Were can I buy the needle? And were can I buy the hair besides a hair salon? Sorry for all the questions... What size/brand needle should it be?
@jadeishere101 I have not seen a Monster High in person (only online and they are awesome!) but if you can get her head off then YES! Any doll can be rerooted :) They take a long time, several hours at least!
You can buy the hair & needles from specialist websites including my own (search for "My Little Customs" and you will find me!) - you would need around 2 - 3 packs of hair. I hope that helps! xx Robin xx
One thing I was wondering is how you remove the head safety so not to tear the neck or break the join. What would I do? Watching you work has really made me want to try it out for myself.
@Zephial Use a blow dryer or hot water on the base of the dolls head. Then when it becomes really flexible, just pop it of! but wait til its very flexible or it will break off the piece that holds the head on
Hi Lily, you can buy nylon, katsilk saran and polypropylene from me! The link to my website is in the video info (top right) or alternatively, search for "My Little Customs" =)

. I always make a nod in the middle of the hairplug, That way you can comb it without plucking hair out.
Could you make a tutorial of eyelashes?? If I make them they always fall out very easily!
