imo this version is conclusive in its own right. JLT should do more of his DP stuff than other's DP stuff in his shows... and the tempo-question was not really solved back then in DP, too: compare studio version with 1st gig: Ostrava, 2nd gig: Budapest and later gigs in Germany^^ this one seems to be like the later ones.
The guitar doesn't seem out of tune, it seems to me that it has too much chorus effect on it. Hughes probably tried to play his own 2 bar solo instead of Glover's and might have wanted to trick it out. But the drums do sound off. It may be the sound tech's fault for not setting the sound properly, and bad sound setting can easily cause confusion on the band. Even though, even Turner and Hughes can be excused for a bad performance every once in a while, not?

Not pleased by the music but Rainbow301 thanks for shearing it. I was never fond of Slaves and masters (and don´t argue with anyone who is) but now I just stay in wonder to see how greatly could DP perform even such non ispired song. Where the hell comes this band from ? The guitar is out of tune, the drums feel so unfluent, the bassman loses rhythm in the two-bars solo before the chorus (my Good, is this the funkyman Hughes ?)
and then the false background vocal kills the top moment of the song. It also lost all the great darkish rhythmical tension it originally had as this band plays it so quickly. C´mon, they just had to be tired from time-zone change of the japan tour...
@KarelKamzik Touchet my man, touchet. The best thing DP did was to get rid of these two loosers.David Coverdale is better than these two idiots put together !!!

Brilliant! One of the highlights of the shortlived MK.5 version of Deep Purple, AND with The Voice Of Rock on bass and backing vocals. Great! Thanks!
