  • I just bought one of these cymbals yesterday. I had gone into the store looking for a 19-21" crash ride and was considering the 21" Zildjian K crash/ride (Zak Starkey Model). The Giant Beat blew it away—as well as a A Custom Rezo crash, A custom Crash and 20" a K Crash Ride. These Giant Beats are great and the videos don't do em justice. One of the sweetest cymbals I've ever heard. Heavy and good for riding, but great responsive crashing without being gongy. A unique combination of both.

  • i have the same physical approach as shown on video (kudos!) is it going to last long than year with regular 3 times a week usage?

  • How would this cymbal do with Sabian AAX's 17/18 or 18/19 if anyone is blessed enough to know that (I can't decide which to pair with the crash/ride I am getting) Dx

  • don't tell me it's discontinued...

  • I was wanting to get a ride cymbal from Paiste that is crashable and has a nice bow (like the Zildjian A Sweet Ride) but it seems that i can't find ANY that is crashable... The only ride that i can find is the Alpha 20" Full Ride. It's so unfortunate that this Giant Beat ride has been discontinued :(

  • @IntakeDeathification Its not discontinued.

  • a giant beat complete set is my ultimate dream..............one day

  • these cymbals look so good! i love the minimalist look and the sound is incredible!

  • Just discovered Paiste is pronounced "pie-stee". I did not know that.

  • i was thinking of buying this cymbal so that i didnt have to buy a crash, second crash and a ride, when i have money this will make a good crash/ride

  • I am an extremely hard hitter how long do you think this cymbal would last me? as an example kind of like aaron gillespie who used to play for underoath.

  • @bscott6593

Absolutely not. These cymbals are pretty fragile.

  • That hi-hat sounds awesome!

  • I could use this cymbal as my only cymbal in my whole kit!

  • how durable is this cymbal? id mostly be crashing it. underoath type drumming (heavy, hardcore)

  • Great cymbal and nice playing too!!

I have the 24" Giant Beat which I love.

Did you record this with just a pair of overheads and a kick mic??

    Sounds great.

  • Thin Cymbals are stronger as their is more give in the cymbal

  • Would it be alright if I were beating the piss out of these Giant Beats? I know Bonham did, but they ARE thin cymbals, and I don't have the money to be replacing all the time.

  • Yes, it's paiste, it's quality, Zildjian cracks, not paiste. Paiste ftw, baiste sounding cymbals and they don't cracks easily.

  • are these cymbals likely to crack? iv cracked a 2002 before n dont want the same to happen to a giant beat

  • giant beats are thinner and softer sounding than the 2002s so yes they will be more likely to crack, but if you swoop across the cymbal when hitting it then you shouldn't crack any cymbal

  • it looks very nice and hell, i could use that as a crash all the time!

  • OMG i need those hats and that ride!!!!

  • what hats are these?

  • Paiste 15" Giant Beat Hi Hat Cymbals

  • would anybody recomend this or the 20" 2002 ride?

  • Depends on what type of music you play. If you are playing harder rock I'd go with the 2002. But both are very versatile and will work in almost any situation.

  • depends on what kind of music u play,

if its more jazz,/blues, then this one, but for more rock, use the 2002 one

  • depends on wat u want

  • it's not actualy a crash ride it a multy porpose cymbal it's more like a crash

  • man i love that snare sound! what kind of snare is it and how did you tune it

  • Yamaha 14x5.5 Brass Snare with die cast hoops.

Tight resonant head and moderately tight batter head.

  • man if i had the money id buy those cymbals in a second

  • ok then ..so it's the one i have !! i could've sworn it was the old giant beats.. my mistake !! i'm just glad i have a whole set !

  • yeah man. 20 inch crash rides are an awesome middle ground between crash and, well, ride. I have one and often use it as my only cymbal. Quality.

  • i use mine as a ride and crash with it as well and it sounds just like that one does !! FANTASTIC !! AND I JUST GOT THE GIANT BEAT HATS AS WELL AND THEY COMPLIMENT EACHOTHER BEAUTIFULLY !!!

  • hi!

i play alot of metalcore/hardcore music

and love the sound os this cymabal when crashed, but.... will it survive gigs? and maybe tours>? for my kind of music!

    moose

  • It all depends on how hard you play cymbals. I consider these cymbals to be durable.
