  • a small grind should fit that.

  • My friend has a taotao atv. I was riding it. It ran fine for months but this time I gave it gas it smoked a lot from a crank case breather and hasn't started since. It has compression and spark and the carb had Ben cleaned. There is a coil for the spark that is said to produce spark when bad but the spark ain't at the right time. Do you think that might be itt. It takes in starting fluid but wont ignite it. Them it just pushes it out the exhaust

  • also water in the intake and exhaust port works, if it leaks out the valve..... you get the rest

  • you can also screw in the sparkplug and fill the combustion chamber with kerosene and look into the ports for leakage.....BTW great video !!!...keep them coming.

  • That ex valve is seated way to deep. Looks like the shop that cut that seat did a sloppy job. I love your vids and thanks..

  • клапана проверяются жидкостью а не светом, залевая её в канал

  • i always thought the inlet valve was the smallest! not the biggest...mmm ''4strokes'' any 1 here to back me up. or am i misstaken?

  • @MrGreasemonkey2012

I am only familiar with car motors, but the intake valves are always larger than the exhaust valves.

  • another easy way is to pour some paint thinner or carb cleaner in the port, and if it drips or seeps through you know it's leaking

  • i tried this test (on pretty much the same engine but a 125) and i could see light through the intake valve, it ran okay before but it smoked REALLY bad, could the valve not seating right cause it to smoke A LOT? and it has good compression.

  • I always Glass bead the head before the reseat and/or overhaul. It looks like new when its done. Thanks. Jymi Seminole, Florida

  • @jymisuncst thanks for the tip

  • How do I remove and install Valve Guides in a 5HP Briggs?

  • It's amazing how it will still start

2 I keep having to resubscribe to your channel don't know why I'm getting booted off.

  • @BillyInnes that's strange

  • Really thankful for your youtube channel. I have been working on small engines for years and hope you do really well on here. I am subscribed.

  • @freespeachrulez thanks for the sub

  • I have always tested valve sealing be placing the head on a workbench such that the port is facing up and filling the port with alcohol. Any seepage around that valve into the combustion chamber area indicates a leak. I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.

  • isnt this a hemi engine?

  • those imperfections are so small you could probably grind the valve with some grinding compound and i bet that would fix it

  • That was useful information but I have a different problem. I have a 18.5 hp OHV briggs engine and the exhaust valve seat came out off it's seat witch caused the valve to not close. So what I need to know is what would cause that to happen and can I just put it back in or do I have to replace it. And how do I keep it from coming lose again? clintatch1

  • @clintatch1 usually replace the seat with a new one

  • how much is land per acre over in ur part of canada??????????

  • @Liamautomechanic where i am it's expensive but cheaper in the north

  • aye it sure did,i think the price are on the items, ull see ur self, i hope dis is not some canadain / irish secret code, the war is over in ireland ,LOL , ANY HOW ULL HAV IT BY NEXT WED, LOL, any way were 5 hours in front, good night,

  • aye u might send ur local mag,ill get u one on thursday, ull have it next wed, got that beer today, thanks

  • @Liamautomechanic that beer money got there fast

  • @Liamautomechanic can u write the prices on it?

  • last winter was the worst in 30 years, but not much snow, never seen a snow blower in eire??????????

  • recieved that beer.thanks, ill send a copy of our local mag with prices of chainsaws etc strimmers etc

  • @Liamautomechanicyea i'm curious to see that, maybe i can send one of ours

  • @Liamautomechanic getting colder here, are there any snowblowers in Ireland?

  • I LIKE how you explain things. I always like to know 'why' and what are the 'consequences of ' . Thanks donyboy73

  • just in case you don't see any light escape and you basically have a good uncracked head, do a leak down test too. fill up both ports with fuel and wait about a minute or two. if neither of the valves don't show leaks, it's good.

  • Please let us know if it starts, bike looks in good shape otherwise, thanks!

  • @kodibass the bike did start with the valves like that but it is low on compression and doesn't have the power it should

  • nice job dony. i have a question about my troy bilt weed eater if u cant prime any gas to the carb wat would u think would be the problem?

  • You could also use a bolt to plug the spark plug hole and then pour a fluid in the chamber while checking the ports for leaks.

  • also to find really small "leaks" use diesel fuel. it will wick and find its way through extreamly small leaks

  • Great video man ! I didn't know about this, Now I do lol thumbs up !

  • I think i got a OHV teccy engine with that problem, i checked everything on it except the valves.

I guess i'll check them next.

  • u need a new camera with nice audio

  • @sonicfoley i'm saving up for one that is HD

  • @donyboy73 cool

  • why not try lapping the valves?

  • @30GB this is even after lapping the valves

  • Thanks for the info Dony.
